A&W Canada — Restaurant in Lethbridge

I am an avid A&W fan, and I quite enjoy that my favorite burger usually tastes the same everywhere (Chdr Bcn Unc, no pickle, xtr Bcn). Normally the only thing that changes at some locations is white onions instead of red (Red is better in this burger, in my opinion). However this was different... all day today I could occasionally catch wafts of what I can only assume was cooking oil & or the smell of the cooking food. (I was working about 10 mins east of this location). At the time I couldn't quite put my finger on what it was. Kind of appetizing... but different and strange enough to make you wonder what it was. Didn't think nothing of it. Last time I was here a few months ago, a coworker and I smelled the same thing.

This visit to A&W was amazing (because I would have gone w/o dinner after working late) and the location looks great, the interior is clean, the staff are friendly. However... something put me off. I was handed the bag, and I got a large whiff of that same smell. And I figured... maybe it's their grill not being cleaned... or maybe they cleaned it with a different product? I have never had my food smell like this before. And while it looks perfectly cooked and I have eaten half of it, something feels, smells and tastes just... off.

Now just nibbling on the rest sporadically, because that smell doesn't sit well with me.

So honestly this is a 5 star review, I just really want to know what it could...

A&W is one of the best fast food places I highly recommend! Their food is incredibly tasty and always hits the spot. The juicy, tender meat in their burgers is cooked to perfection, and the flavors are always spot on. Whether you go for their classic root beer float or choose from their wide selection of drinks, every sip complements the meal perfectly.

A&W is a staple experience for "good" fast food. Glad about the changes the franchise has made in Canada to embrace local and wholesome ingredients. It's a big difference compared to what the franchise is like in the United States. I don't usually like fast food but A&W is one of the few exceptions. My little kids love it. However, not all franchises are alike. This has got to be my favorite A&W in Lethbridge if not all of southern Alberta. Great staff and really quick service. When there have been problems, they not only genuinely apologize, but often throw in a freebie of some sort. Spacious and bright eating area with easily accessible blinds to shade your table if necessary. Convenient location just off of downtown and not far from Crowsnest...
