ES Café — Restaurant in Lévis

Saw some great reviews so decided to grab a bite there. The girl at the counter was very helpful. Everything went smoothly until we noticed that we bought a juice that had past the best before date. As a courtesy we went to let them know. But in return the lady (who I believe was the manager/owner) backfired at us. Said rudely "it's just water and sugar and it won't kill you BUT we are sorry. Everyone makes mistakes. It's ok. It's ok. Don't worry". Appalled by her customer service and logic I went back to sit down still shocked by how condescending she was. My friend took a photo of it and she immediately came over and grabbed the juice bottle and said "is everything alright, come on, just sugar and water, everyone makes mistakes, what do you want me to do???" She then walked away with the bottle. We were not here to make a big deal nor take advantage of this situation. If it's not a big deal why is she confiscating the bottle??. And makes me question, if a drink in the front counter was past the date and no one noticed, is anyone doing stock taking? Anyone looking at the dates of ingredients? Very rude. As an only English speaker I was nervous to enter on my way through Quebec. Was delightfully surprised! Everyone was extremely friendly and I used Google translate to help the language barrier but the barista knew some English! Now let's talk about the food and drink. The ham and cheese sandwich was amazing, bread was so fresh and tasty! The chocolate caramel tarte was to die for, perfect pairing as the chocolate hits you first then the toffee flavor. I also got an almond croissant which was amazing too, filling was the perfect amount of sweetness. And now for the Most amazing part! The Oat milk Hot chocolate. I have never had a hot chocolate this good and I've been all over Canada... 3 times... You have a choice between dark, milk or white chocolate. I love this café. The ambience is cozy, and the staff is kind and friendly. The quality of the food and beverages is very good, you can see how carefully everything is made. I put 4 stars because you can only stay 90 minutes before departing to give place to other costumers. So if you want to study for a whole night, you can't really unless there is really no one.
