We have come here for years for special occasions and date nights. Sadly, it has declined to the point where I wouldn't recommend any vegan diner. We made reservations on Sept 3 for our anniversary. The vegan options are almost non-existent on the menu. The only entree option is a Beyond Burger. I'm not sure who would decide to offer what you can get at A&W at a higher end restaurant. Poor judgment, to say the least. The only other vegan option is the Mediterranean Board (where removing the cheese is the vegan option while keeping the price the same, Pictured). Falafel was cold, 4 olives and 3 banana peppers, half a fig cut in to 3 pieces, a tablespoon of marinated vegetables, warm cucumber, stale pita and what I'm certain was store bought hummus.
The supervisor, who was very apologetic and understanding (she agreed to Beyond Burger, was a terrible choice for a vegan entree, and the mediterranean board was pathetic). She removed the cost of the board and gave us a gift card to make up for it.
The only time in my life was when I had to order food from another restaurant for pickup while watching my wife eat her meal. Needless to say, this experience ruined our anniversary dinner and will never be going back.
Update 2025: We went back to use the gift card since they have added vegan and vegetarian options to the menu.
I ordered the Namaste salad , which was inedible. It looked good on the menu, but the delivery is one of the worst tasting dishes I have ever had. I took 3 bites and could not eat it.
The quinoa is cold (not warm), and the dressing is sour with balsamic glaze around the dish, which isn't on the menu description. The seasoning is heavy on the cumin and overpowers the dish. The falafel is store bought frozen and bone dry. The fried onions on the top of the dish completely overpower it and contrast everything they in the dish. I was expecting a few onions as garnish, but they added at least a cup of fried onions on the top. I would equate this dish to something you'd find in a food court somewhere and wouldn't recommend it to anyone, especially for $30.
We only returned to use the GC. And it was a chance for redemption, but again, they didn't deliver. No GC will make us return. Many other quality restaurants out there that can deliver top-notch food...
Read moreI have never written a review before about anything but I felt that I needed to this time. I called about a month before my wife's 65th birthday to reserve a table for 8 people asking for a view of the lake. I wanted a 5 o'clock time but only could get in for 2 o'clock. We arrived on time and the hostess said it would be just a few minutes as they were cleaning our table. No problem. Fifteen minutes went by and the story changed .She said the people had paid their bill and were leaving shortly. Then she told us the people were still talking and not in a hurry to leave meanwhile people were coming in with parties of six or seven and were getting seated right away and their reservations were at 2:30. The whole entrance cleared out and we were still sitting there including my 3 and 6 year old grandchildren. We finally got seated around 2:45 and we were no where near seated with a view of the lake. That is what I thought the hold up was for. When we placed our drink orders it took a very long time to come and the waitress brought me white wine when I ordered red. My wife , who doesn't get upset easily, was getting very frustrated on her special day. The time between drinks, apps, and our main meal was way too long. We were there almost 3 hours . They knew that they screwed up as they offered us free dessert. It was a nice gesture but we didn't want it as we had a cake waiting for us back home. Thank goodness the grandchildren were well behaved. The food was good but this was the worst dining experience that I have ever had. They should have given us a different table and not wait for that group to leave. I paid over six hundred dollars and left upset. I know the place is used to high volume of people as they are always busy so they should have not made us wait 45 minutes for a table. We were not happy of the extremely long wait for a table, and the time between our drinks , our apps and meal. I tried to make her day special with our family by taking her here but it...
Read moreThis place is ALWAYS hopping! As we pulled into the spacious parking lot thirty-minutes early (QEW traffic was better than anticipated) for our 1330 reservation, we couldn’t believe how packed it was. Most folk seemed to be waiting for the patio, to enjoy their meal whilst looking out at the lake, and the infinite possibilities therein. Our server, Nicole, was wonderful, attentive, engaging, helpful and looked after us perfectly. Couldn’t ask for better. Appetizers were a “Classic Caesar Salad” and Baby Spinach Salad. The house made Caesar dressing was tres garlicky! Delicious and full of flavour. For lunch, my wife had Fish Tacos and Fries and I had the Mediterranean Mezze (wasn’t sure how to pronounce this word, so just kinda mumbled and pointed…) Board. The fish tacos were light and not fishy. My wife wasn’t a big fan of the sweet pineapple mango chutney, preferring a more “pickled topping,” but enjoyed the meal nonetheless. Portions are generous, three tacos, and scads of fries. Fries are of the coated variety, very Costco-looking fries… The Mediterranean deal I had was wonderful! The two types of hummus were simply divine! The garlic flavour and cumin and whatever else was amazing. The olives were super salty, but when paired with the hummus and the figs, out of this world perfect! And the falafel! Never had better. Was a great meal, VERY filling! As with the last time, the dining area is very loud. Have to say, was better than our previous visit as there was no loud MUZAK pumped in. I guess I’m just a fellar who enjoys a more reserved and quieter dining experience versus the loud, bursts of laughter and whatnot. But that’s just me. Desserts were another fine sample of their “minis.” We had an orange chocolate pudding with a raspberry coulis and a crème caramel. Both were light and delightful. A perfect ending to a wonderful lunch or luncheon, not sure what the difference is… maybe price or time...
