Update: even more disappointing that I see reviews posted before and after mine that got a response from the management but mine deserved no response? Hmmm!
I feel really bad giving this low review considering how hard restaurants were hit during the pandemic. But it absolutely had to be done. If you cannot make or keep up or at least serve customers something with pride and that is worth what you are charging, then it's better you close temporarily or permanently like some restaurants rather than serve customers garbage.
I ordered 2 meals (delivery via skip the dishes) on Saturday and it was an epic disappointment. I was looking for something a little more elevated (than fast food) in my area for a birthday celebration at home. I thought L'Gros Luxe would meet this expectation but they failed.
The 2 chicken burgers ordered we're almost inedible - "not eatable". The fried chicken was PURE batter - barely any meat and burnt to a crisp of bitterness. The slaw was soggy and really didn't taste good to me (tasted old). The fries were burnt and SALTY and not nice. Sweet potato fries were ok. The avocado fries which cost 11$! were just tasting bad and coated with thick batter. Maybe that was just a personal taste, but I was expecting something more mind-blowing. Maybe avocados are best left uncooked. WE ACTUALLY ENDED UP THROWING AWAY OUR FOOD - $60 worth gone. It was garbage sorry to say but nothing about this meal was satisfying or made me think wow I just spent money on something amazing or even filling or tasty.
It's sad. The burger was so sad I might as well had gone to harveys or Macdonald's and gotten some more succulent chicken. The chicken burger seemed to be an afterthought on the menu. Perhaps other things taste good here but I doubt it after this first time experience. It's better they save money from printing fancy napkins and bags and focus on preparing good quality food. Ugh!...
Read moreI only have 2 questions for the extremely cool people who work here:
Who do you think you are?
What gives you the right?
Maybe when you can serve fries that aren't cold, maybe when you can show a minimum of respect for your clients, who stand aimlessly in your entrance like cattle, while indifferent employees avoid eye contact, maybe when your barman doesn't sneer at me for reasons beyond my understanding, I'll go again.
Heh, no, though.
Edit: Thanks for showcasing the huge attitude problem this place has with your reply. ''Amertume refoulée'' isn't ''refoulée'' when it's clearly stated in front of you, and if you think I'm wasting my time talking to a manager when I can't even be seated or get service attention, then you just confirm that you don't value your client's time. I can't fathom you aren't aware of the systemic issues in your service, and placing the onus on me to inform you of them isn't helping your case. Hire friendlier people, inform clients of delays in service when they enter or outright state that you can't serve any more people. I left your restaurant feeling ignored and robbed more than once and I know a few others who feel the...
Read moreOkay. Where to start. I hadn't been to gros luxe in about 8 years because I was traveling alot. I remembered loving this place ( in the miles-end )
This Vieux Longueuil location is nice, atmosphere wise. Going to the restroom slightly feels like a A24 horror indie film maze, lol.
Waitress was super nice. Took a bit long to ask what we wanted to eat & for the bill but that's not an issue. Food was served quickly after.
The mocktail aloha she recommended was so good. I had 2. And the pineapple one as well.
Gyoza: good! Lovely taste and texture. Just very small portion. (3 gyozas only )
Cauliflower wings: so disappointing. The sauce that comes on the side made me feel nauseous a little bit. They just didnt look or taste how I would expect cauliflower wings to taste.... underwhelming.
The beet salad. Taste good. But the presentation is disappointing perso. I didn't even realize that the ricotta was in the " balls " until mid salad. Lol. But thankfully it did taste good. Would have loved smaller cubes for the beets and more granny apples. The walnuts were great.
It was a nice experience but I...
