How do I give this more stars?!?! I moved from Toronto to Kentville last year and have been on the hunt for a restaurant to replace my King Noodle fixation. We finally found it last night. For the 4 of us (we eat a lot), we ordered the pork dumplings, mapo tofu with pork (need to request the pork), gai lan (off their authentic menu), Singapore noodles, garlic stalk beef, and 1/2 BBQ duck with 2 bowls of steamed rice to balance out the salty dishes we ordered. We had half the garlic beef, a spoonful of tofu and half a bowl of rice leftover because it was a lot of food. The mapo tofu brought me to tears, probably mostly because I’m pregnant and was the standout dish of the night. Just a hint of spicy kick and the tofu was so soft and saucy. The sauce on the BBQ duck was bonkers and seemed to get better throughout the meal. The gai lan was very lightly dressed and the perfect side of greens to our otherwise heavy meal. The total bill was just over $100. Will be coming back. The server recommended the Szechuan eggplant and ginger beef for the next visit, but I don’t know... we seemed to have found the perfect...
Read moreThe Honey Pepper Chicken (also referred to as Hong's Chicken) is so tasty! We just had a family reunion and my brother in law said he wanted to eat a whole bucket of just Hong's Chicken, it's just delicious. I think it's even gluten free which is impressive because it's battered. The next menu item everyone needs to try is the Stir Fried Garlic Stalks! These are literally the shoots of the garlic bulb. They look like green beans but they taste like a whole lot of deliciousness! The third thing we ordered which everyone needs to try is anything with Black Bean Sauce. We usually get either beef or pork, both are perfect. Special thing to consider is these three menu items are so tasty it is just wrong to get them with anything other than steamed rice. It's time for people to mix up their ordering habits. Too often we go to a Chinese restaurant and order chicken balls, fried rice and beef and broccoli. What a waste of your taste-buds when Sackville has this authentic restaurant that can give you...
Read moreWe had an absolutely delicious dinner from Chef Hong's Kitchen yesterday. The ginger fried shredded beef was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend The sweet and sour pineapple chicken is probably the best to be had in HRM The Singapore Fried Rice Vermicelli is definitely my favorite version with just enough spice to keep it interesting but not so much that only a chili-head could order it . The Hong's style pepper sauce ribs are unrealistically delicious with a blend of spices that is familiar and difficult to identify at the same time. This is a serious upgrade from honey garlic ribs. The chicken fried rice was a great pairing with so many wonderfully flavored dishes that also had a very pleasant mild flavor. I'm so glad we...
