Benito Bistro Italien — Restaurant in Magog

Ok, so we were tourists in Magog, and we wanted to try this Italian food restaurant, "we found on google." We made a reservation beforehand. First of all, there's no English menu. Fine, we tried to understand a little bit since it's also the dishes' names, which are known by their Italian name. The waitress, at the beginning, tried to be friendly and wanted to translate some of the dishes on the menu. We ordered the appetizers first, and Caesar salad was so good. But shrimp had something made our stomach started to flip. Then we ordered linguini with sea food. "I saw the pictures on their Google website" and Gnnochi. The linguini came with almost no salt at all. I wanted to ask the waitress, but she never showed up to our table until the end. The Gnocchi was kinda hard to chew and burned. We waited for the waitress to come check on us if we liked the food or if we needed anything, but she never showed up." Though she was busy talking with locals on the other tables and completely ignored us," When we finally got her attention, we told her we needed some water, and she went and never even showed up while she was bringing water to other tables but not us. Then we waved to her to give us the bill, and at the end, I told her we asked for water and waited more than 7 minutes, but you completely forgot us. She started apologizing. Very disappointed and disrespectful behavior. What I felt was that because we are not locals, she never gave any attention to us. And there might be some racism to the language and race as well since we are not québécois. :|

Beautiful place and ambiance! We were quite looking forward to trying this restaurant. It is cosy, yet modern and very well decorated. While I ordered an appetizer, my husband did not. Then, we waited (and waited) for our main meal. Meanwhile, a table of six and a table of four, both of which had arrived after us were served with drinks and meals. In fact, 40 minutes after I had finished my appetizer, we were still waiting for our main course. Finally, since our waitress had not come to us, we spoke to another one and within minutes, we had our meals. However, both our meals were not warm. Obviously, the original waitress had been too busy taking care of the six-person table and had not brought us our plates on time, hence they had cooled off. So they were returned to the kitchen to be warmed up. While the presentation of the plates was very nice, the food was not up to our expectations. We both love Italian food and have been to many Italian restaurants. We appreciated the fact that the waitress did not charge us for my glass of wine because of what had happened. However, we are not planning to bring friends there or to return to the restaurant though we live in the area. At least...

Très mauvaise expérience de resto !

Mauvais service, pas d'eau servi à la table, commande le vin maison (vin rouge d'Espagne) goût légèrement vinaigré... Avise la serveuse qui me dit "On va quand-même vous le facturer" alors j'insiste et elle me dit qu'elle doit voir avec le patron ! Finalement c'est ok... on nous remplace par une bouteille, (délais jusque là environ 30 minutes) puis la serveuse revient prendre la commande... Moi, steak saignant avec frites, salade, champignons sautés et sauce au poivre, ma conjointe commande la même chose mais médium pour la cuisson... 30 minutes plus tard nous sommes servis, je demande quelle assiette a le steak médium... "Aucune idée, je sais pas, on va voir en cuisine" je coupe un morceau puis je dis c'est correct, on s'organise ! Commence à manger, mais où sont les champignons !? Ma conjointe tombe sur des nerfs dans son steak... la serveuse revient puis noud faisons part du mauvais steak... Elle revient disant "heu on a plus de champignons, désolé et les autres clients ont aimé le steak" alors je lui dit, faute de champignons est-ce que je pourrais avoir d'autres légumes, elle me dit "ok" puis revient en me disant "une petite salade c'est tu correct?" Franchement j'en avais déjà dans mon assiette !!! Je demande si c'est possible d'avoir de l'eau (nous sommes 4 à la table) elle revient avec juste 1 verre pour moi !!! Je demande si possible d'avoir du pain... un panier de pain arrive et le pain est dur et sec...finalement ma conjointe n'a pas soupé (son steak était mauvais et lui a coupé l'appétit) nous sommes rentrés à l'auberge avec une soirée bien gâchée !

P.S. le chansonnier était très bon... Pour le reste, il y a beaucoup de chemin à faire pour atteindre un niveau acceptable en restauration (opinion...
