Hatch, Red Bulb, Alchemy, Elephant Grind are the places I go to get a decent cup of coffee in uptown. BPM will now also be on my list and I am so happy because I have more cafe options and closer to me as well !
This cafe is quite neat and nicely decorated. The owner is very friendly and quite passionate about coffee. She would use different coffee bean depending the drinks you order. They only offer coffee drinks so thats a good indication for focused energy on good coffee!
We ordered two drinks, 1. cap with oat milk and 2. matcha with espresso with oat milk also.
The cappuccino is nicely made without the sourness or the strong bitterness, it’s a nicely balance flavour with a nice coffee aroma! The oat milk was stretched nicely that give very fine bubbles and resulting a creamy cup of cap! Nice cup of Cap. Thumbs up!
The matcha with espresso, the owner picked a coffee bean that has a lighter roast with fruity notes so it doesn’t over power the matcha flavour. Again, the oat milk is nicely stretched so the end result is a good tasting and a satisfying cup of creamy drink!
May not be the cheapest coffee but you get what u paid for and to me, price is still in reasonable range.
For sure I will be visiting again...
Read moreI've tried the other two cafes in Cathedraltown and finally got to try BPM this long weekend. It was very small inside (only two tables and two bar seats, but they have some tables outside) and only one person working so you have to wait for her to finish making the drink for the customer ahead of you before you can order.
We got the matcha donut latte and charcoal latte. I requested my matcha sweetened and I thought it was the perfect amount of sweetness. The charcoal latte was very interesting, and definitely had a unique taste that I don't really know how to describe except it tasted like charcoal lol. However the owner (?) cautioned us before ordering that the charcoal latte is known to increase your bowel movements so if you're gonna order it, make sure you have easy access to a washroom afterwards.
The drinks themselves were good, but quite pricey for the size! However I'm glad I tried them at least once.
They closed at 3pm on Victoria Day but they still let us chill inside way past that time. Make sure you come early since they only open for a few hours on the weekend, and since the space is small there aren't...
Read moreThis place is listed on the American Express acceptance list as a small business but they really try to enforce to not use Amex with signage and telling each customer. You are able to use Amex anyway and the transaction will go through. Hope they change this shady practice just wanting to save on processing fees even though they are supposed to take it.
Product wise, pretty interesting experience here with a cool interactive concept with your barista. If you order the donut, you can sip the top foam to experience a hot and cold drink in your mouth and they will keep topping up for you until they used all the foam. I’m not sure what’s so special about the blue part of the matcha since it didn’t taste like anything in particular so it’s just colour.
I really appreciated how they gave the extra leftovers of the drink on the side so there’s no waste.
On the downside: the drink is extremely small for the price. I ended up paying $11.75 after tax and it was gone in 10 sips.
Wouldn’t return but glad...
