Makirrito Poke Bowl & Sushi Burrito has quickly become one of my favourite spots for a satisfying and fresh meal. The portion sizes here are impressive, and each bowl is packed to the brim, ensuring you get your money's worth. I typically go for takeout, but it’s nice to have the option to dine in, especially when I have more time to sit down and enjoy my meal. The restaurant's clean and welcoming atmosphere makes it a comfortable place to eat in, although the convenience of takeout usually wins out for me.
One of the highlights for me is their build-your-own poke bowls. The customization options are extensive, allowing you to create a bowl that perfectly suits your taste. I’ve tried their sushi a few times, and while it’s quite good, I find myself gravitating back to the poke bowls time and time again. The freshness of the fish really stands out, particularly with the salmon, which is my favourite. I usually opt for double salmon because a single portion just isn’t enough for me. If they were a bit more generous with the salmon portions, it would elevate the experience even further.
Another feature that adds to the convenience is their system for tracking orders. When you provide your phone number, they keep a record of your previous orders, which is a huge time-saver, especially when you’ve found a combination you love and want to reorder without having to remember all the details. This little touch shows that they care about providing a seamless experience for their customers, which I really appreciate.
In terms of quality, Makirrito consistently delivers fresh and delicious ingredients, which is crucial for both poke bowls and sushi. The rice is well-cooked, the toppings are plentiful, and the sauces are flavourful without overpowering the natural taste of the fish. The only minor drawback for me is the portion size of the protein. As I mentioned earlier, I usually go for double salmon, and while it’s delicious, I do feel that the single portion could be a bit more generous. This is a small critique, but one that, if addressed, would make the experience even better.
Overall, Makirrito Poke Bowl & Sushi Burrito is a fantastic spot for anyone who enjoys fresh, customizable meals. Whether you’re a fan of poke bowls or sushi, there’s something here for you. The ability to tailor your meal to your liking, combined with the convenience of their order tracking system, makes this a place I’ll continue to visit regularly and recommend them to anyone looking for a fresh and fulfilling...
Read moreI would give zero stars if I can. I was in the mood to eat poke. This morning, I came here at 10:38 am, a couple of minutes after this place just opened. As I walked in, it was completely empty with no customers in sight. It was not busy. There were three staff members (two males and one female) who all saw me, but didn't even acknowledge or greet me, they just completely ignored me. As I am looking at their menu for a couple of minutes. I decide to order the Aloha Salmon bowl and as I approached the counter to put in my order, there was a female staff near the cash register and she looked and made eye contact with me, for a moment and then instantly acted like I was invisible. I waited there for 30 seconds with the intention of ordering and paying. But absolutely no one from behind the counter had any desire to assist and take my order. So, I had enough and just walked out the door.
All three of the staff members who work there was extremely unwelcoming, unhelpful and very rude for not taking my order.
In the past, I have been to Makirrito twice to order out and didn't have a problem with the staff taking my order or ignoring me.
This is the first time for me entering a restaurant, where staff members didn't greet me, didn't acknowledge my presence, not take my order and not wanting business from me.
This restaurant's customer service is a big fat fail. Truly unprofessional and poor customer service from what I experienced today. I don't deserve the lack of respect and no service, especially when I had intended to pay for the food.
I highly recommend other poke places like Komeya Cafe, Poke Guys or Next Station, for friendly and helpful customer service, who will happily take your money.
Just told my poke and sushi loving friends to stay away from this place.
I will NOT be a repeat customer and I refuse to step foot in this...
Read moreOverall, this place is expensive and a waste of your money. I ordered a sushi burrito and it wasn’t even wrapped properly, everything fell apart from the moment I picked it up. The only good thing I can say about the burrito is that the salmon portion was okay, but everything else was a mess. The base price for the sushi burrito is not expensive, however if you want to add a simple topping such as cucumber they will charge you $0.85 and $1.25 for premium toppings such as avocado. I don’t mind paying a few dollars to add a few toppings but the problem is that they give you too much of it because you are paying for it and then they are unable to properly wrap it. Their poke bowls are such a joke, the rice portion was no more than 3 table spoons and it was dry and stale, furthermore you get more pieces of bitter, dry vegetables than rice, also the bowl is so shallow it’s like a plate. The protein for the poke bowl you get (I got unagi) is so small and pitiful, to be more clear there were exactly 3 pieces of thinly sliced unagi in the poke bowl. This place offers a variety of foods such as sushi trays, poke bowls, and sushi burritos but unfortunately none of them are up to quality standards. Also I came here twice in the past and the food wasn’t that bad, but I noticed that if you come in when they just open at 11:00 or 11:30 on weekends, they give you an attitude and move at a slow pace because they aren’t ready yet; if you are not prepared to serve customers during the start of your hours, than CHANGE YOUR BUSINESS HOURS, don’t make it the customers fault because your employees are unprepared for business. If you want a poke bowl just go to a poke restaurant and if you want sushi, go to a sushi restaurant, this place is...
