After years, I finally made my way back to Tangerine. I've always been a fan of their food especially their great selection of vegetarian dishes. We ordered: - Manchurian Veggie Balls ( one of their most popular dishes ) - Veggie Hakka Noodles - Veggie Fried Rice - Chilli Chicken - Orange Chicken I was a little disappointed to see the Noodle and Rice Dishes come in half-size containers, but once I poured them out into serving dishes, the portions were pretty good. Everything was delicious, except for the Orange Chicken, it just tasted sweet with a few orange slices placed on top. I also really liked they I could request all the items to be spicy or not spicy. Our total came out to around $55 Pro Tip, they offer a 10% off discount if you pay cash.

My husband is highly allergic to egg and even on veg restaurant we asked 100 of times about egg contamination or egg used in any dish. We order chilli chicken and fried rice combo from Tangerine and asked about egg over the phone even picking up the order from the guy working there , all the time they said no use of egg in the dish and guess what after eating my husband had high allergy, epipen kind of situation, when I called at restaurant to confront they said yes all the chickens are marinated with egg, we must have told you . How could ever this possible, first thing I ask in food is about egg. It’s very disappointing and disheartening that they didn’t take the allergy seriously. It’s matter of life and death.

I am a regular at the Tangerine in Richmond Hill and love their food and service. Tried out the Markham branch this week and was rather confused. First the ambience. It seems as if they are still waking up. The interior ned some more light, some freshening up. You get the feeling of entering a very old place. The service was good but impersonal. As if it does not matter to you if you are their client or not. Had two dishes, the Hot and sour soup and the Chilly Chicken. The soup was good but the chilly chicken could have been better. And the shrimp fried rice! Oily! Sad! I wonder what happens from restaurant to restaurant in the franchise. Come on Tangerine, Markham. Perk up. You have a reputation to maintain .

Me and my spouse have been going here for over 2 years as our main "quick to eat" spot when we dont want to cook.

The service has always been good and the food before our recent visit was great. Unfortunately, I can no longer say that about this location.

We ordered black bean beef with fried rice and a plate of dry chili chicken. First: The waiter didnt even wait around long enough for us to order drinks. The black bean beef dish came out 20 minutes before our chili chicken dish so we started to eat. (This was suppose to be my dish and my spouse ordered the chili chicken for himself.) Under the circumstances we had to share the first meal...we finally had to flag someone down to bring us a coke and water....they brought the coke and forgot the water. Had to ask another person for water....and when the chili chicken came out it was horrible. It did not taste or look like chili chicken whatsoever.

We had maybe 4 pieces off the plate ....waited again to get someones attention and told them that this does not taste like what we normally order. I even asked if the chef changed (this could explain the difference in the dish) but no....her response was "I'm sorry you should have told us before you started eating" ...... what?! They actually expected us to let the first dish get cold while we waited for them to bring out the second one!!!

Nevertheless she said she was going to go tell her manager....and never did. She walked up to the counter, spoke to no one, got the bill for our table and walked away again.

We will not be going back here. Frederick's hakka restaurant across the street is 1000% times better for their service and consistancy of delivering good tasting food.

Tangerine you lost 2 customers because of your poor attitude towards...

We were visiting Tangerine in Markham for years since it’s close to my home. On Thursday December 9th was the worst. We went there at 7pm. It was empty only a couple were dining. There was only one person at the counter who was attending the phone and serving as well. She approached us and asked are we dining here? We said yes we are then she wanted to see the vaccine reports we took out then she ran to attend the phone without even excusing herself. This waitress/ customer rep/ who knows chef perhaps on that evening had poor customer service skills! She went to the phone at the opposite side of the counter and continued taking orders over the phone without even gesturing that she’ll be back to us. We were standing there with the IDs and vax report for 10 minutes like fools! Finally our patience ran out and we left the restaurant. This place is going down, the food, the service and place are all falling apart. The other part of the restaurant is like a warehouse! The place looks like a run down! Not to mention the waitresses are rude and have attitude. We were visiting this place for over a decade and we can feel the difference from then and now. Beginning of November when we went to dine we ordered garlic shrimp hakka chow mien and garlic chicken which taste horrible with sauce and salt only! Once their chicken pakoras were delicious until we found only corn flours with food Color and few chicken gillets in the pakoras and we stopped ordering pakoras. Still we went in December 9th and that was it! Never to go there again! They will certainly provide better services in other locations like they use to in this(Markham) location, until they start...

Quality of the food has gone down significantly. I'm not sure if they hired a new chef or if they're making cuts (Probably because there is too much Hakka food competition along Markham road or chefs working at different locations?) but their food has been getting worse and worse. The quality of meat, whether it be chicken or beef for example, has obviously gone down. Whether it may be because of using yesterday's left out meat or just buying lower quality meat. This place used to be my favorite Hakka place but things like poorer quality food is going to kill that. The better on chicken is always instantly soggy when gravy is put on it, not like it used to be when it stayed crunchy for bit. When I ordered fried rice there was like an inch of oil at the bottom of the container, something I have never seen from this place before. My last 10-15 orders from this place has been bad. Some other things I've noticed are stinginess with the sauce packets (pepper and soy), stinginess with spring-rolls that come with lunch specials and a change to the spring-rolls which make them unbearably oily. One last thing which they have always had a problem with is consistency with adding starch. Sometimes there is so much starch the texture makes it feel like someone spit in your food because of the sliminess. They need to fix this by being consistent with preparation. If they change the all the things I've mentioned or I've at least heard from a friend they have, I will try their food again and...
