I don't have any concerns about the coffee or service but I am annoyed over a couple of things. Firstly, one table is broken and has been unstable all summer.Someone could very easily tip the table and dump hot coffee over them or their children. This was brought to the owners attention at least two times by me and I know other clients brought it to his attention as well. It is still broken and not safe. The other issue is that you have to ask them to set the tables and chairs up outside most of the time. Why is this not automatically part of their opening process. Yesterday I was told by the owner that it was too cold. Really!!!!! People like to sit outside whether it is cool or cloudy outside. Why do we have to ask all the time to have this done. Numerous times I have walked away when I see the tables not set up. Why do we always have to ask? Also, I have never seen any table tops outside cleaned. They are always dirty and need to be wiped. The tables should be wiped regularly especially now during COVID. If these issues could be rectified I would give a 5 rating but until these things are done I am giving a two rating. Please think of your customers. It is the little things that will make you better than your...
Read moreWhen I'm looking for a place to work, finding a nice coffee shop in which I can sit down and ponder with some light background noise is what I need. In comes Second Cup on Main Street.
Forewarning, I rarely order anything other than coffee, tea, bananas, and the occasional sparkling water, so defer to another review if you're interested in the food. I've been occasionally coming here for a while now. The mid-sized space is along iconic Main Street Markham. It has a fair amount of seating, which in my experience has been sufficient enough to generally be able to snag a seat. The baristas are always politely welcoming, and as I like to say, they're are regular human happy. It shouldn't take too many guesses to figure out where you can find non-regular human happy baristas. The one downside of this place for me personally is that instead of playing the mellow jams that typically stir my thinking juices, they opt for more of an upbeat kind of vibe. Maybe that's your thing and I'm just a sour puss.
Anyway, great little coffee shop where you can sit and chat or get...
Read moreI recently visited the Second Cup at Main Street and Highway 7 to buy a white hot chocolate. While I initially had a pleasant experience with the tall worker who served me, something concerning happened that I feel compelled to share.
After I paid for my drink, I heard a noise and saw a cup fall to the floor. I watched as the shorter worker picked up the cup and placed it back with the clean cups they use to serve drinks. This really bothered me because it raised questions about hygiene and cleanliness standards.
I considered saying something at the moment but decided against it, as I didn’t want to create a scene with other customers around. However, the incident left me uncomfortable, and I ended up discarding my own drink because I no longer trusted how clean the cups might be.
To anyone visiting this location, I recommend being observant and cautious. Cleanliness and proper handling of items are crucial in any food or drink establishment, and this experience has made me think twice about...
