Considerations when dining here for brunch: Come early to be seated immediately. Otherwise, plan at least an extra 15-20 minutes before you'd like to sit down to put your name on the waiting list. No reservations. First come, first served. They will call you when your table is ready. If you don't answer, they will move on to the next on the waitlist. There is a strict 1hr 15min table seating limit. We were reminded multiple times during our time here. The space is small. I don't advise bringing a stroller.
Food/Drink Recommendations: Gochujang Chicken and Waffles. The chicken is well seasoned and marinated. The waffle is crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The dish comes with a side of kimchi and maple syrup. Earl Grey Pancakes. 3 large fluffy pancakes topped with an Earl Grey creme, served with maple syrup, sliced strawberries, and a berry sauce on the side. Mushroom Truffle Eggs Benedict. Two perfectly poached eggs on top of a bed of sautéed mushrooms and a warm English muffin, dressed with a smooth hollandaise sauce. The side salad is a mix of greens, carrots, cucumber, and red onion paired with a Japanese style dressing. The homestyle potatoes are seasoned and spiced. Some may find them spicy. Matcha Latte. Can be ordered sweet/unsweetened, and a variety of milk alternatives are offered. The matcha is well distributed throughout the drink.
Food/Drink Critics: Mushroom Truffle Eggs Benedict. Unsure if there is any real truffle in the dish. Vietnamese Iced Latte. Not your traditional Vietnamese Iced Coffee because of the volume of milk used to make it a latte. If you're looking for a strong coffee taste, order coffee or an espresso instead.
Atmosphere: The entrance can become crowded as the space is fully maximized to have as many seats/tables as possible. Ask for a table away from the door.
Space between tables is a bit tight. Plan accordingly to not bring too much with you.
The restaurant is open concept with a view into the kitchen. Brightly light and inviting.
There are 2 bathrooms available for patrons. The floor can get a bit wet as the day progresses, especially if it's raining/snowing. I'm curious how they'll solve for this throughout the restaurant as winter comes.
Service: We were first told the wait for our table would be 35-45 minutes. Unfortunately, we missed 2 calls from the restaurant saying there's a table ready 5 minutes after leaving to wait in the car. We were told that it would be another 20-minute wait upon calling the restaurant back because they let the next in line have the table. 10 minutes after that, we were called to come into the restaurant for a free table.
Our server mentioned that the restaurant recently went through a seating rearrangement, and the receptionist also mentioned they're going through a training period.
Drinks were served at the same time. Food items came one after another (eggs first, then pancakes and finally the chicken and waffles).
Our server was very kind in our interactions and reminders of the table time limit. There was a communication barrier as the bus person clearing our table wanted us to leave because our time limit was up. However, we were waiting...
Read moreI came here with my mom on a Friday around noon and this place was completely full! When we walked in, they told us it would likely be about a 15 minute wait but then my mom spotted an empty table near the back corner and I inquired about it. Turns out, they didn't offer us the table since it was missing a chair... Which was a little silly. Good thing she asked though, as one of the other servers managed to locate a chair, so our waiting time turned out to be only a few minutes. We sat down, were given cutlery, menus, and water.
They were pretty quick to check up on us again to take our orders. I opted for the BLACK SESAME PANCAKES and a VIETNAMESE ICED LATTE while my mom ordered the SISTER'S BREAKFAST SANDWICH and THAI ICED TEA. Honestly, I was impressed with how quickly the drinks and food came out thereafter - fresh and hot also, while still maintaining a really nice presentation. The servers were also great about asking if my mom wanted any pepper, ketchup, etc with her meal. BLACK SESAME PANCAKES: great portions and the pancakes were quite moist and fluffy. Overall, very nutty and aromatic in flavor. The marscarpone coupled with the drizzle were flavorful and definitely sweet enough on its own, I didn't even touch my syrup! VIETNAMESE ICED LATTE: strong coffee, just the way I like it! SISTER'S BREAKFAST SANDWICH: the sandwich itself was nice and fluffy. The homefries were well seasoned (tasted like BBQ seasoning) with a slight kick to them at the end. The salad was also delicious. THAI ICED TEA: strong flavor as well, a good rendition of a classic.
Both my mom and I were stuffed! Which speaks to the portions.
All in all, we had a lovely time and didn't feel rushed at all. Service was friendly and they were very attentive when it came to constantly making sure our cups of water were full - we never had to ask...
Read moreSisters & Co is a new Asian fusion brunch restaurant, tucked away at the corner of Birchmount and 14th. It's located inside a conspicuous plaza northeast of the intersection, so be sure not to miss it!
We (party of 2) arrived on a Saturday around 12:50pm. There was a waitlist, so we put our names down and got told it would be about a 30min wait. It ended up being just over 20min, so that was great. They do call you when a table is about to be ready, so feel free to sit in your car or explore the small plaza (though there isn't much there to explore). If you're a larger party, I would expect a longer wait. There's only about 15-20 tables and they're mostly for parties 2-4.
Menus are provided and there's normally a 'sweet item of the day'. Ours that day were tiramisu pancakes. The menu says market price, but the waitress didn't tell us the price, so not sure how much it was or would be. Both the hostess and a waitress told us about it though. I ended up getting a taro latte and the char siu eggs benedict. My friend got a cappuccino and the spicy oxtail stew. Service overall was very good, despite it being busy - 9/10.
The food was alright. The taro latte tasted just like taro bubble tea, just hot and not too sweet. It also tastes nothing like actual taro :) The char siu eggs bennie was just okay. The hollandaise sauce was too heavy for me (like it usually is) so I only was able to finish one. I really liked the garlic aioli fries though, worth the $1.50 upgrade! The char siu itself is pulled and only has a hint of the classic char siu taste. The spicy oxtail stew was good, but pretty spicy. Flavourful, though. Overall for food - 7/10.
TLDR; Overall, a good Asian fusion brunch place, competing against places like Alchemy, Elephant Grind Coffee, and Chillax Coffee. Great location and service is above par, but...
