I had the pleasure of visiting Sweet House Dessert, a spot I’ve been curious about for its reputation of offering traditional Chinese desserts. Since COVID-19, the establishment has transitioned to a take-out-only model, which was a new experience for me. Despite the lack of a dine-in option, I found the service to be remarkably accommodating and efficient. I decided to place my order in person, and while I initially thought it might be a bit of a hassle, the staff made it an enjoyable experience. After taking my order, they asked me about the car I was driving and then kindly brought the order directly to me. This level of personal service added a nice touch, making the process not only easy but also a bit special. If you plan to visit, I would recommend calling ahead to place your order, as it might save you some time, especially during busier periods.
One of the main highlights of Sweet House Dessert is its extensive selection of traditional Chinese desserts. This was the primary reason for my visit, and I was not disappointed. The menu offers a wide variety of choices, and I found myself wanting to try a bit of everything. The desserts I ordered were delicious, with flavours that were authentic and nostalgic, reminding me of the kinds of treats I’ve enjoyed growing up. The portion sizes are generous, giving you good value for your money. Each dessert was well-prepared, with a balance of sweetness that didn’t overwhelm, which I appreciated.
On the savoury side, Sweet House Dessert also offers options like spaghetti, which I decided to try out of curiosity. While it’s nice that they provide a range of choices, I found the savoury dishes to be less impressive compared to their dessert offerings. The spaghetti was decent, but it didn’t stand out as much as the desserts did. It’s clear that the strength of Sweet House Dessert lies in their ability to deliver high-quality traditional sweets. That being said, having savoury options available is still a plus, particularly if you’re in the mood for something more filling before indulging in dessert.
Overall, the service was exceptional, with staff going out of their way to ensure a smooth and pleasant pick-up experience. The traditional Chinese desserts are the star of the show, with a wide variety that caters to different tastes. While the savoury dishes didn’t quite hit the mark for me, they still provide a nice alternative for those who want a bit more variety. I can see myself returning to Sweet House Dessert, particularly when I’m craving something sweet and authentic. For anyone interested in traditional Chinese desserts or looking for a convenient take-out option with excellent service, Sweet House Dessert is definitely worth a visit. I would recommend calling ahead and maybe sticking to the dessert menu, as that’s where this place truly...

Context: They serve a variety of mango themed desserts and various traditional Chinese desserts. It's a hole in the wall Take-Out Only - I didn't know that. They charge you for the takeout container and also tell you that they won't use your eco container that you brought lol which means they don't give a four letter word about the environment to begin with, which is not at all what they advertise.
The Experience: The food is honestly subpar even when it's not expired. The customer service is atrocious, and they will sell expired mango that is also unripe and not in season. When you telephone to inquire about what happened, a very rude and loud Man will yell at you to say that it's your fault that you ordered it. lol. Zero accountability. Then proceed to continue to berate and loudly argue with you and then abruptly hang up on you. Nobody deserves or wants this kind of attitude or experience ever. Shame on you Sweet House Desserts and your disgusting behavior.
100% Horrible experience and would never return under no circumstances. Should have read all the bad reviews because there is truth there. Food 1 star,...

🍨111 Matcha Ice Cream with Mango, Mochi, Coconut, Jelly, and Red Bean 💲$9.99 CAD ⭐ 10/10 Love that the mochi was still warm yet the ice cream didn't completely melt during the 10 minute car ride after picking it up.
🥭 36 Mango Sago with Coconut Jelly 💲$8.99 CAD ⭐ 9/10 Pretty standard mango sago. It was delicious but overpriced for what it is, although you get nice big chunks of mango which is nice. I found the coconut jelly to be perfumy but others seem to enjoy it so YMMV.
🥥 98 Grass Jelly with Mango, Pomelo, and Sago 💲$8.99 CAD ⭐ 10/10 Same comment above. It's standard mango sago but with grass jelly. The jelly was firm but also smooth which was nice.
Overall, I'm grateful for the oddly late hours of operation at Sweet House Desserts. While other businesses are closed, I can still get my dose of Hong Kong desserts. Their menu seems long but they're just variations of the same base so you can't go wrong with any option. As summer comes to an end, I'm looking forward to trying some of their...
