SECOND TRY
GAVE THEM A SECOND TRY AS OTHERS SAID MAYBE JUST A BAD NIGHT....WORSE THAN THE FIRST TIME.
We went to their place this time. Some of following was ordered....
2 Geisha's Platters Very poor taste. Flat. No flavour at all.
2 Prawn Tempura Far too much batter. Rubbery prawns.
Chicken Teriaki The chicken is like rolled meat not real chicken breast. High prices for tiny portion.
3 Sushi Rice Ultra salty and not edible by ladies. Husband thought was ok.
Platter 1 Poor presentation. Falling apart and looks very hastily thrown together. Tasteless. There was a terrible smell.
2 Salmon Teriaki Again far far too salty according to both who had it.
Veg Tempura was satisfactory but nothing special.
THE WORST PART OF OTOWA IS THEY CANNOT TAKE ANY CRITICISM. IF YOU COMPLAIN THE OLDER FEMALE OWNER ABSOLUTELY ARGUES, WAVING HER ARMS AND SHRIEKING AT THERE IS NO PROBLEM WITH THE FOOD. NO CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS AT ALL. THERE WERE 6 OF US WITH THE BILL TOTALLING OVER $150.
A COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY.
ALSO THE BATHROOMS ARE FILTHY AND THE DECOR DATED AND DIRTY LOOKING.

Absolutely awful. Tasteless chicken teriyaki. Watery skimpy sauce with no flavor. Dry rice and mushy salad. Tempura prawns were pale and tasteless but the very worst is they use that horrible company called SKIP THE DISHES that charge $4.99 for delivery then they trick you on the bill automatically tipping the courier another %15 on top of the bill. So in our case the courier WHO GOT LOST FOR 30 MINUTES AND WANDERED IN WITH COLD FOOD got an automatic $30 total for his rotten service!!! For carrying 2 bags of food from his car to the door...$30 And he was rude and belligerent over HIS STUPIDITY IN NOT FINDING AN EASY ADDRESS. HE WHINED THAT WE MADE HIM LOSE OTHER JOBS! Called Otowa several times while the driver was calling us saying he's lost....NOT OUR PROBLEM MISS....he squeals. Called SKIP THE DISHES AND THEY LEFT US ON HOLD....HAD TO DISCUSS....HAD TO RING HIM...RING US BACK....RESULT? ICE COLD FOOD!!!! NO ONE CARED. NO ONE OFFERED ANY COMPENSATION. WE PAID FULL PRICE FOR TERRIBLE FOOD WE HAD TO MICROWAVE. MICROWAVED TEMPURA IS VILE.
AVOID THIS DREADFUL DUMP AND SURELY NEVER EVER USE SKIP THE DISHES. THEIR REP IS AWFUL I NOW FIND OUT WITH 59% DISSATISFACTION RATE!!!! RIP...
Read moreWe placed an order at 4:30pm for delivery at 7:30pm on a Friday night on my wife’s birthday, sushi for two. At 7:45pm we called to ensure our order was on the way and we received a snarky response that “we could have waited a few more minutes” before calling and that the driver was on his way. At 8:10 we still heard nothing so we called back and got the same story, that the food would be there soon. After an additional complaint of how long things had taken, we were told we could have a 50% discount on the delivery. I said no, and the manager picked up and told me that they could do a 50% discount on the food as a special deal for us. By this point I was standing outside with the delivery person (who showed around 8:15). I said, “Is that it, 50%?”, and the manager asked how they could make this right. I asked for the food to be free, it had been 45 minutes late after we placed the order 3 hours in advance. He said he would talk with his boss. After 1 minute, Otowa hung up. I called back immediately thinking they had forgotten we were on the line. After a few rings, they picked up and hung up immediately, clearly checking that it was the same number calling again. All the while the delivery person is just standing there apologizing. I tipped the delivery person and sent them back with the wasted food, not their fault they work for managers with poor manners and less business sense. Will not be ordering Otowa again – have never been treated so rudely by restaurant...

We drove 30 minutes to come here after looking at the menu online, I am celiac so I was really happy and excited to see so many gluten free items including tempura shrimp sushi. When we got there, we were told by the server who was very nice, that everything I was hoping for wasn't gluten free, and how most the items were gluten free but we're CLEARLY labelled with an * and a statement saying gluten free. I was very confused by this and was told she had told her bosses countless times to reprint the menu and they refused. I said it's also on their website which she knew, and apologized. It was so disappointing to check the menu online and then be faced with blatant false advertising, and even crazier because it was with allergies. We left as I was given absolutely no confidence that I wouldn't get sick eating there. Really truly disappointed as I've been to otowa when they were in Saskatoon, and was so excited to see it hasn't closed. Really sad to hear it was sold to someone else and this is how they are running this facility. If you have allergies please think twice about going to...
