Went the Blue Flame tonight, Thursday September third. We have been loyal customers before the management change, and decided to try the restaurant now, after new owners had time to settle. We were greeted by a soft spoken man, almost to quiet, he was hard to hear and understand. We placed our order of Butter Chicken and Tikka Masala. Added naan bread and 2 orders of rice. One can of pop. An order of samasos. This is the same order as we have always ordered. Numerous times. After a short wait, we were offered a tray of very dry and very bland "popcorn". Still laughing at that! We had an ice tea and water. The water and ice cubes had a very distinct taste and smell. The ice adding its flavour to the tea as well. The main meals were brought out in a timely manner, but our samosoas, had not come at all. The meals were large in portion and hot. Neither if the dishes were prepared the way we are accustomed to. From presentation to flavour, they both fell short, of our expectations. Our server seemed put off by having to be there, not breaking a smile once. Whereas the man up front had one the entire time. The food was good, but not amazing or worth 40 dollars. It was as good as out of a jar, but nothing special. When we paidm the bill can to 40.73. I made mention that samosas were missing, so the bill needed to be changed. Nope, they were never even added. There was no reason or excuse given why. We were asked 4 times if we would leave a review though, really? Well here it is! Needless to say we have formed our opinion and will not be returning to...
Read moreHave ordered butter chicken here for the past year because it is always one of the best in town. Last week we ordered off skip and only got one portion of rice. Being as there 2 of us eating this was definetly not enough, so I had called to speak to someone to see if they could send us another one. I was not rude when I first called, until I was told there was nothing they would do and they would give me free rice next time. While that was generous that still did not help my situation right now. Once I explained this, and even offered to go myself and get the rice that I paid for and did not recieve, the man on the phone hung up on me.. I called back and was very put off since for over a year I never had a problem. Once it was clear they did not care to do anything for me, I ended up having to make my own rice, and was finally able to eat my cold butter chicken. As usual the butter chicken sauce was amazing, the Naan bread was hard and crunchy and not as soft and garlc-y as usual, but still good. I do know that I will be giving other places a second chance now, since this whole experience put a really bad taste in my mouth. And yes, I did end up going through Skip to get a refund for my...
Read moreI made reservations here for my partner and I and on arrival we found that the staff had prepared the table with a beautiful ornate flower and played nice music for us. We ordered the Mix Veg Pakoras as an appetizer. These Pakoras were very good (5/5) as well as both chutneys. We also ordered Potato Nan (5/5) and Basmati Rice (5/5) to go with our Aloo Gobi (6/5 some od the best Aloo Gobi I have had) and Coconut Chicken ( I didn't eat this though my partner said it was delicious). For beverages we ordered a glass of Lindman Bin Shiraz (4.5/5) and a Mojito Cocktail (5/5). The food portions were very generous. We ordered all the food with mild spice and it had some slight heat but wasn't hot which is perfect for me. Our server was very polite, well mannered and knowledgeable about the food and beverages. The atmosphere was very nice with pictures from Nepal and a mural of Medicine Hat.
I will definitely come back here and will order out in the future. Best Indian food I have had in Alberta and the level of service we received was...
