Today is Sunday 7pm August 13, 2023. We are driving through and stopped at 5 guys as we enjoy it in Calgary. The food was good but the atmosphere was like entering the twilight zone and unbelievable. The guy taking our order couldn’t hear us over the very loud heavy metal music. We expressed this but he just said yes it’s loud, continued to head bang to the music and take our order. The place was very messy from a recent rush I’m assuming. Not many choices to sit. The guy cooking screams out the order number like he’s an angry line cook from the war. The “manager” walks around with her phone held near her face but not sure if she’s talking or listening but we know for sure she’s not doing anything. We asked if she could turn the heavy metal head hanging music down and she said it’s required to be that loud and they are not allowed to turn it down. The table cleaner looked angry, the order taker was head banging to music, the cook was busy cooking and angrily yelling out order numbers and the manager or supervisor was out buying what looked to be alcohol for their head banging heavy metal screaming music party. But apparently head office says it’s suppose to be that loud therefore it can’t be turned down. The strangest evening! Our 5 guys in Calgary is definitely...
Read moreThe food itself is good. I didn't have the sick, bloated feeling that accompanies poor quality fast food afterwards, and they offer free peanuts to those waiting in line. The fries don't detract from the taste of the burger, which actually seemed to be seasoned instead of a slab of mystery ground meat. It's quite expensive though, at $8 for a cheeseburger. That can be excused by the sheer amount of free condiments they give you in return. Given that it's strictly a burger joint, the menu seems somewhat complicated. I really only remember seeing hot dogs and burgers on the menu, with the option of forgoing a bun and having the burger wrapped in lettuce or simply eating it with a knife and fork instead. That's all one section of the menu, while the other 4 seem useless, crowded, and confusing. The service person wasn't a limp robot either, he smiled and spoke clearly, so that qualifies as excellent service for a...
Read moreFor whats considered "fast food" this was pretty top notch. Their burgers are a nice lean beef with a very "homemade" feel. Its almost as if you picked up a pack of burgers from the local butcher and cooked them up yourself. The amount of toppings they have available is actually a little overwhelming haha. They used awesome fresh ingredients. The fries are cooked in peanut oil which might be a big deal if you're weak and have peanut allergies. I'd say they were some of the best tasting fries I've ever had. The meal was a little pricey but you know what I'd pay that same amount all day long because it was well worth it. Definitely a healthier alternative to any other fast food burgers as the burgers are all natural and free of fillers and chemicals you would find in say a mcdonalds burger. The burger itself was also so filling I couldnt even eat all my fries. Haha. Excellent...
