Montana’s BBQ & Bar — Restaurant in Medicine Hat

We live very close nearby, so we've eaten and met with friends here several times. The menu can be a little limited (few pasta selections, a few chicken selections, steak and ribs of course) but the quality is always spectacular. And it's always a treat when 'special' menu items are introduced (notably, I particularly liked the limited-time southwest ceasar drink they had - at least I think that's what it was called - a great variation on my regular ceasar). If you need a quick lunch, the fast lunch menu is very reasonable and very quickly served. What REALLY puts this Montana's over the top and makes it a five star review however is the service! Saige is the most attentive server in Medicine Hat, without being intrusive or annoying. I have yet to see her stop moving during any time I have been there, and her timing, even when the restaurant is busy, is that of a mind reader! Whether it's refilling coffee, water, asking how your meal is, providing desert recommendations or bringing your bill, she always seems to know exactly when it's time to stop by your table. She always seems to take a minute or two to chat and make you feel welcome (how she does this and still manages to get to every table, I have no idea! She must have somehow stolen Santa's time-bending tech). I truely hope that Montana's gives her a raise and some sort of promotion to teach others these amazing skills. Highly recommend you ask if she's working and sit in her section...

Montanas was one of my favorite restaurants to dine and order from. My last experience however makes me not want to eat there or order their food ever again. I ordered food for pick up and made it to the restaurant a couple minutes late, as im in the restaurant waiting to grab my food and go home I notice countless amounts of workers looking me in the eyes and walking away......one bus boy walked straight up to me didn't even let me know someone would be helping me shortly or even be courteous enough to acknowledge me. There were servers and bus boys chatting it up, slacking and moving at the pase of an absolute turtle. The only person who managed to assist me was a bus boy who had been genuinely busy working, once he finished he came over to help me. Being a service worker myself this was an absolute joke to see.... completely unprofessional and disrespectful. When I finally get home and open up my food to eat I notice my lettuce was expired and brown! My burger was dry and had barely any sauce. I could tell my Ceaser salad was also made with gross peices of lettuce ... so not only was the service terrible the food was gross..... I find it incredibly outrageous that you guys beleive its exceptable to serve this low quality food for such an insane price! Not at all worth a cent of my money... extremely...

We had ordered in advance, for our sons birthday, and Montanas messed up the order. After sending a website complaint, we were contacted by someone who stated our next meal was on them. So, my wife and son went with me for supper on Nov 11. We were seated in a booth, and handed menus by the server. After 15 minutes, another server took our drink order. Another 20 minutes and we get our drinks, by a different server. We informed the last server about our free meal, and that our son was on a separate bill. We finally ordered, and another 50 minutes later we got our food (after people beside us showed up, ate, and left in the meantime). Finally, our food arrived. The server said she would be back to make sure the order was correct. She never came back until we we’re almost done eating, and therefore my wife steak was not cooked the way she wanted. She asked if we wanted dessert? My wife said the apple crumble. 30 minutes (!) later a tiny cup of apple something was brought out. When we paid for the bill, our “supper on us” covered our food, but not our pop or the dessert. When we were first contacted we were told it was on them, EXCEPT alcohol. That’s 2 for 2 with a very unpleasant experience. Come on Montanas, you can be better like...
