We recently visited this restaurant for their eat-all-you-can option. Every time we come to Medicine Hat, we make it a point to eat here—it’s been one of our go-to places for family meals. Overall, the food was decent—nothing exceptional, but good enough for the price. Since my kids don’t eat much, I didn’t avail of the buffet for them and simply ordered from the kids’ menu, which I assumed would be a straightforward arrangement.
Unfortunately, what should have been a relaxing family meal turned uncomfortable due to the behavior of one server. Throughout our meal, this staff member kept directly looking at us—particularly at my children—in a way that felt intrusive. I understand that staff need to monitor tables, but there’s a line between being attentive and making guests feel watched. It wasn’t just casual observation; it was constant enough that even my daughter asked why the server keeps looking at her.
At one point, it felt as though we were being closely monitored to see if we were giving food from the buffet to our kids—which we weren’t, precisely because we respected the rules and ordered separate meals for them. The scrutiny made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome.
I politely raised the concern with another staff member, who apologized. Shortly after, the manager came over, also apologized sincerely, offered a 15% discount (which I declined), and kindly gave my children some toys. I genuinely appreciated that gesture—it showed that the management wanted to make things right.
However, the situation became even more awkward when the server in question approached me directly to say she had heard I “complained” about her staring. I clarified my concern and mentioned that even my daughter noticed the constant looking, but she denied it and insisted she was just doing her job. After that, I completely lost my appetite and didn’t eat anything else. At that point, I just wanted to finish our visit and leave.
I rarely leave reviews, but I felt this experience needed to be shared. It’s important for staff to be more aware of how their actions can affect the dining experience of guests. A bit more sensitivity and discretion would go a long way, especially in a...
Read moreWell we’ve been here a few times. But this probably is the last time. The price was definitely higher then what online shows, how is supper $9 dollars more per person when it’s the exact same meal/menu? The hours online said open till 10, we had just started to order and waitress had come said to us last order is by 9pm the time was 8:36pm. Why didn’t they say anything before seating us? That it’s closing early that day? Why not have correct hours and pricing online? I ordered mango chicken which came with tons of onions, there was more onions than there was of anything else. I ordered teriyaki chicken, which came very peppery. I wanted to order chicken nuggets as they called it but that has been taken off the menu which was one of my favourite. Ordered the cheese wontons they out to much sauce on those and they were soggy. Most the sushi we ordered were falling apart or broken all crumbling away as trying to pick up to eat. We typically try and out a few orders in here and there so not everything comes at once. But it seems each time we did an order things would be missing, and not come so then we’d have to ask for them. And meanwhile feeling like we had to shovel the food in as fast as we could as the time constraint. This was for my partner’s birthday supper, they did nothing special for birthdays don’t offer discounts. For the price we paid here we could have gone many other places and had a better experience and left satisfied. Unless we are given a free dinner for them to make the experience better I doubt we’d...
Read moreI was passing through Alberta and stopped for lunch. Reviews were good but I can't agree with them. The food was disappointing and the service was subpar.
If you're looking to eat lots of sushi and Candian "Asian" food regardless of quality, it's the place. It clearly caters to a very specific demographic.
The sever didn't explain that the menu he gave us was for the lunch buffet. My husband and I each order a roll and when the rolls were seved, we thought they were very small. Later, another server came and explained that we ordered from the buffet menu and asked if we wanted it. We said no because what we ate wasn't great. The soy sauce was watered down and somehow it tased sweet like tamarind. Since the portion of the rolls was small, we ordered pad thai. At this point, my expectations were pretty low and I am no expert on pad thai but it was not good at all. Actually, it didn't look or tasted like pad thai at all - it was soupy and tasted like ketchup.
Definitely not going back for more when we...
