Garden Sushi — Restaurant in Merritt

Still giving stars because the food was decent. Honestly I will not give any stars for the service at all.

There were 11 of us and no customers at the restaurant other than us AT ALL. We were told that the food will come a little bit slow since they are understaffed. We were okay with that and proceed to the table.

Since we are a big group, we have separate tables and some of us were standing and discussing with the other table about what to order when suddenly this lady came and told us to sit in a rude way. We sat and discussed about what to order, then some of us were standing again just to confirm to our friends what to order (it was not even 2 minutes) then this same lady came and once again told us to sit in a very not nice way as if she’s talking to bunch of kindergarten students. She said we have to sit because she needed to take orders and blablabla, and the fact that we were discussing what to order to help fasten the process and there were no one there just kinda makes us speechless.

Idk what happened to her yesterday, she must have had a pretty bad day, but it’s not fair and very unprofessional to show it like that.

Some of us lost appetite and decided not to order and left instead. I hope you could teach her some manners and customer service. She was like that when there were literally no one there, idk what will happen if she has 30 people in the room at the same time.

The previous location was amazing. In their new location they have changed more than just their address. In the Dynamite roll, the tempura was way overcooked, giving the entire roll an unappetizing smokey/burnt flavor. The size is way down from where it used to be, previously a Dynamite roll was a full meal and priced as such, now its 5 skinny pieces with a normal roll diameter but priced as a large. The California roll is mushy and tasteless. Everything else I was interested in was 30-50% higher than the high quality places I frequent. A single piece of salmon nigiri is $3. Even tea has a charge here while the majority of sushi places offer it for free.

Presentation and decor are very nice but quality of food does not meet minimum requirements.

Had the worst service anyone could ever get. For a glass of water had to ask 3 times to 2 different person. When finally we get a glass of water, there was only one glass of water, but I asked for both of us. When I asked for deep fried for a roll, boone told me that it would be 3$ extra for every roll. There was only 2 other tables, boones else in the restaurant, but the service was soo bad.

The spicy salmon roll, was the salmon from a can that I buy at the grocery store. Very poor service and as taste as well. Wouldn't recommend at all.
