Inhumane Environment/Culuture of this establishment 👎🏼. We (me and my girlfriend) were on a walk. It started Pouring Rain 🌧️ outside. So we decided to take shelter in the Cafe’ for just a while. Either rain stops in 10 mins or we book a taxi from there to our home. We just had a coffee earlier from tims so didn’t feel like having another coffee ☕️ here, right away.
Manager or owner comes to us within few minutes and asks us to leave. ‘Stating we can use this space. I said it’s pouring rain and before I could say anything he says. “it’s good time to leave’. We felt so disrespected! 🙂↕️. We are new to this community in Midland and choose to buy a home here we work in long term care locally. we were there customers too. Just found a picture from my phone 👆🏽 (attached) about one of our vista here. So it proves that i am legit. if staff would have approached us. Hey would you guys like anything cofee or dessert or just listen to our situation that we are leaving soon. Booking a cab. Or i would have just bought a muffin or donut for us. To stay there for few minutes Instead they made us feel we don’t belong their and shush us like we are Homeless or intruders In front of other customers. 😓 We both ended up drenched waiting for our cab for 5-6 minutes outside the establishment. Instead of them letting us have shelter or time to buy something from there.
Anyway, we going to live in this community and contribute but W’ll Never ever vist the Bussiness again. After facing...
Read moreI actually love the coffee and baked goods here and have come to grab treats on and off for many years. Today, for the first time in the midst of the snow storm I had hoped to sit here much longer. However, I was informed by the management that I have to leave and they have an "informal" rule of only ~1 hour mostly because they do not want people to make this their virtual office. Unfortunately this was quite jarring because unlike other coffee shops there is no signage to warn paying well meaning customers and the coffee shop only had two other people sitting there at the time. As someone who doesn't look like most people around here I have been previously asked to leave from places based on the idea that I'm somehow not a paying customer or taking advantage of the business and when there is no signage or forewarning to prepare for the fact that when you're stuck in a remote spot that there is a time limit for enjoying the seating here -it is difficult to know the reason why I was being targeted. I was super disappointed as my husband and I both love the coffee and goodies here and have actually sent many people their way before. Any how, I no longer feel welcomed after...
Read moreThis coffee shop is a long-standing member of the Midland coffee scene. It's previous location had a different, more intimate vibe, but the expansion with the new location certainly has allowed more seating and the incorporation of the roasting right in the building.
I usually like a darker roast of coffee than Grounded produces, however, the espresso based drinks are on the whole wonderfully crafted. Seating is often busy and especially at peak times in the mornings, it can be difficult to find seating. There is a small addition of an outside patio, which has a great summer vibe!
Last time I was in we both ordered Cortados and they were strong, hot, and beautifully executed. Grounded is certainly committed to a grassroots, organic and locally produced menu. Many of the food and bakery items for sale are locally produced. This business obviously strives to be a responsible member of the local community. This definitely is a must stop if you're in Midland...
