I would say the service was horrid, if I actually was ever served. The table of four next to us sat for 40 minutes before getting their food... oh wait, they never received their food. They got up and left because after their order was taken no one ever returned to their table with food. When they left angry we over heard a waitress say to one another that they thought they had already ate and were done. Neither questioned why they had no dirty plates. Then the old couple behind us, they had come in behind us and the table of four. They did however receive most of their food. They waited on a toasted western to go. After thirty minutes they decided to go up and ask about it. They were told it would be five minutes. I have made toasted westerns before, it does not take 35 minutes. Then our experience, took we waited a half hour before just getting annoyed and going up and ordering at the counter with what I assume was the owner. Then another half hour before like all the others around us decided to just get up and leave. I highly suspect they never even started our food. If they can not handle multiple tables at once, I suggest they downsize. I also suspect that other tables around us were also suffering from being ignored. We did not notice ANYONE at a table of six being served at all. They were there when we entered, and when we left. I believe them to have a powerful sense of patience. I do not know who is to blame for this all, could be the servers, could be the cooks. could be the management. Really I don't care whose fault it is, but someone working there with any sense of how to work not just in the service industry, but in a restaurant REALLY needs to grab the reins and steer this place out of the cesspool it's taking a ride through. The only enjoyable part of eating here was the comradery among the people who like us were suffering from a horrible experience. If there is one thing Min-jis is five star at, it's unifying people with common hatred. And if you're looking for a review and you've seen positive ones for Min-ji's and this is a lone bad review, please take into consideration that this is the review of nearly half the...
Read moreI am so happy that Minji's decided to streamline their menu. Now it's all Korean (with a bit of sushi as well) and my food cravings are totally satisfied! My mom's family is from Korea, and I grew up in Toronto eating from countless different Korean restaurants all around the GTA, so I can say with confidence that Minji's is LEGIT.
They make some of the tastiest kimchi I've ever had. It's the recipe I've been trying to perfect for myself for years, and now I never have to bother because theirs is so great!
The dakgangjeong is light and crispy but also savory and saucy. No idea how they manage that! It's so good. It's a big portion and comes in a folding paper style takeout box, so the steam can escape and it's not a soggy mess when you get it home.
The Korean fried chicken is SO TASTY, better than KFC for sure. I order it plain so its kid friendly. Salty and delicious.
The spicy soft tofu soup (aka soondubu-jiggae... my go-to dish I try at every korean restaurant that offers it) is flavourful, with meat and veggies and spicy!! Seriously. The only thing is I wish it came with more rice. There's nothing quite like a spoonful of rice dunked through a bowl of soondubu-jiggae. So so satisfying. And there's nothing better than that when you're...
Read moreI'll be completely honest my fiancé and I stumbles across a tiktok video that had done a review on Minji's and the food looked absolutely amazing. We live very close so decided to check it out one Saturday afternoon. It doesn't look like much from the outside and the inside is even more underwhelming but the food and the service made up for that 100%. As I've come to learn it is a husband and wife that own and run the establishment. The wife greeted us and helped us navigate the menu. There was a bit of a wait for our order but as all ordered are made fresh that is to be expected. The food was hot, fresh and delicious!! We orders the Korean fried chicken, the pork belly with Brussel sprouts, the shrimp curry udon, and the spicy beef bulgolgi*. The food was fantastic and the portions were huge!!! 4 dishes was more than enough for 5 of us (2 growing teenage boys). Highly...
