Mary Brown's Chicken — Restaurant in Mill Woods

Taking advice from some friend's, we decided to check out Mary Brown's chicken. Walking through the front door, the cleanliness of the restaurant was apparent immediately. It was 5:15 PM, and one employee was busy sweeping the main business area.

Based on today's experience, customer service appears to be a high priority. All the staff were interacted with, were very engaged.

Both of us ordered a 2-piece chicken meal, with different side dishes. We were very impressed with the taste of the tender chicken. Now we understand why our friends recommended this location.

The prices are very good, with plenty of options in the $5-$10 range. That said, the food experience is poor even for that price. We tried several items - tater poutine, big mary deluxe sandwich, chicken tenders, chicken wrap and taters. I wasn't expecting much, but still found everything pretty bland. Needs to do a lot better than this to be worth ordering in favor of the big chains.

Most places around Edmonton have no clue what a poutine is, but for some reason, I still hold out hope and give them a try. This place was no exception, I'm afraid. I'm honestly not sure why these places even include it on the menu at all.

Vivian and Pauline are total darlings. Besides the service being prompt, polite, and using my name, this establishment gets all points right. Their big mary sandwich is always made fresh to order and when you open that box, it's a giant, mouth watering, not over salted, slab of heaven. They also do soft and hard ice cream and it's one of edmonton's best kept secrets. All the staff is very open and honest about all upcoming promotions and specials and that kind of honesty lets me spend my hard earned money in good conscience.
