Being pregnant is super hard, so im 6 months and i can hardly eat still...Placed an order yesterday at 4pm because for some reason their restaurant closes from 3-3:45pm...ordered 2 "lunch special for one" which includes 1 soup, either spring rolls or chicken wings, your choice of meat/veg and rice for $12.99. i asked can i get "egg fried rice instead" she said YES, but charged me for it... I picked it up and didnt mind the charge, came to 41$ and was enjoying my meal with my husband, im not a soup person so i saved the soup for last and ate my chicken with rice....i got to the soup and i was stirring it around to get some of the veggies when i noticed a maggot or something that looks like it in my soup. i went back to the restaurant bc at this point i was disgusted and threw up..i talked to the lady at the front who took my order and some other man who was working the front who cashed me out. they offered me a drink to replace the soup...i refused bc i wanted my money back bc the rest of the food was going straight to the garbage...so they called out a 3rd person...he said he can replace my soup...which was even worst and then said they cant give money back because it was "complimentary soup"???....then in between it all was picking up phone calls to the restaurant even though there was 2 other people who could do that. so i waited patiently. he spoke to some woman who i believe is the owner? then he said he could refund me for 1 lunch special only... which i was willing to leave with but then he said hell give me back 11.99 only....and it was annoying because they were trying to cheap me out of 1$ for some reason...i then refused and said no i want it all back...so they called the owner to come out. she said she can only do one as well...and was talking about how she had to hear from both sides...which is fair...then her explanation to why there was a maggot in my soup was weird...she kept saying how the workers wear hair nets...i kept saying it wasnt hair...that was on loop for a while...then shes like well where is the rest of the food....i said i threw it out...she said well she cant refund me for not bringing it it....i was amazed. i mean i threw it out wen i saw the maggot in the soup....its waste now. only reason soup is back is so i can prove there was something in my soup....she gave me a hard time with the fact i didnt bring it back....so i kept the food and i will be taking it back today for them bc they think im a liar and ate all the delicious food...regardless... it should not take 4 people to fig this out. and to be "fair" i didnt get the money back for the drinks lol...bc they were sealed....which was a joke. my husband warned me about this place but its been a year since hes gone so i would assume maybe they got better....dont waste ur...
Read moreIf you're in the Milton area, I highly recommend you to avoid this place at all costs. Ordered the Manchurian chicken for takeout. Upon me and my family eating it for dinner we noticed that it is very chewy and has no taste. Come to find out the chicken is absolutely raw and completely pink from the inside.
Called them and told them what the problem was and one of the females that works there was arguing with me saying that the chicken is always double battered cooked and that the chef never messes up and that WE ARE THE ONES THAT ARE IN THE WRONG AND WE DON'T KNOW HOW CHICKEN IS MADE OR COOKED.
The lady on the phone says to bring the whole dish back so that they can see it. I went back with my family and it was a young Napali looking girl with glasses who was a one that picked up the phone. Even in person after seeing the chicken was completely raw she continued to argue and say that this is how our chicken is made and that it is perfectly fine and we were the ones that just have a problem with this chicken.
I asked her to call the chef from the back, she says the chef isn't here andleft early. Then another lady comes from the back and I ask her where the chef is and she says the chef is sitting in the back.
I tell them to take the chicken back to the chef and show him, when that girl came back after showing the chef she says the chef has made it perfectly fine and that this is how it's made and served to all their customers.
This has got to be the most unbelievable and frustrating experience of my life dealing with a food establishment. I will be issuing a formal complaint to the local Milton health authority as well as the Ministry of health and make sure the owners of this restaurant pay the ultimate price for serving their customers raw chicken that could easily poison us and on top of that to stand behind their garbage food and to say that it is cooked completely fine even after seeing it in person.
Once again, avoid this place at all costs. Take a look at the pictures and judge for yourself. To stand by their raw chicken and say that's how it's supposed to be made and they are proud to serve it, is a disgrace to all Hakka Chinese...
Read more⭐ Review for Royal Garden Restaurant, Milton ⭐ 🗓️ Date of visit: 20JUL25 👨👩👧👦 Visited with family and kids on a hot summer day
We came to Royal Garden with high hopes for a nice family lunch on a very hot day. The adults in our group placed a large order of Chinese food, looking forward to enjoying the meal together. However, we faced an incredibly disappointing and upsetting situation that I feel compelled to share for other families.
Our young children—some as little as 18 months old and one with special needs—were understandably very hungry and unfortunately do not eat Chinese food. To avoid any disruption or fuss, we brought a small serving of fries from a nearby place just for them, while fully supporting the restaurant by ordering generously for the adults.
To our shock, a staff member approached us mid-meal and sternly told us the kids could not eat the fries, saying “the owner will get pissed.” This was said in front of the children and caused a lot of distress. They forced our kids to stop eating, regardless of their age or situation, which was especially hard given the heat and hunger.
We truly believe in respecting restaurant policies, but a little compassion, understanding, and common sense would have gone a long way here—especially when dealing with small children and special needs. We weren’t trying to take advantage; we simply wanted to keep the kids comfortable while enjoying the restaurant as a family.
Sadly, the tone and manner in which we were approached completely overshadowed the meal and left us feeling extremely unwelcome. As a family-friendly establishment, we expected more grace and flexibility, especially under such circumstances.
I sincerely hope the management reflects on this and trains their staff to handle such situations with more empathy in the future. Until then, this is not a place we’ll be returning to or recommending to other families...
