â 1/5 â Food Poisoning, Rudeness, and a $50 Coupon for Our Trouble
On August 30th around 4:00â4:30 PM, I went to Pizza Delight in Newcastle with five other people. We ordered two pizzas, a garlic fingers, and three nachos, and ended up sitting there for well over an hour before our food showed up. No one bothered to let us know there was a delay, and it wasnât until we flagged someone down for drinks that they finally admitted our food wasnât ready yet. Even then, it was another five minutes before anything came out.
Four out of six of us ended up with food poisoningâmy wife, my father, my stepmother, and myself. The only common ingredients were the onions and barbecue sauce. I called the restaurant the next day, but the manager wasnât in, so he phoned me back on September 1st. At first, he tried to dismiss what I was saying and claimed they âfollow food temperature rules.â Iâve worked in kitchens, my wife has, and my stepmother is a chef, so I reminded him cross-contamination is real. Only then did he reluctantly offer compensation: a $50 gift card.
When my wife went to pick it up, the staff had no idea it existed. She was treated like she was making it up, and she had to push them to even contact the manager before they finally handed it over. After a $150 meal that made four people sick, a dismissive manager, and staff acting like she was crazy for trying to claim the gift card he promised, we were left with a âsorryâ worth fifty bucks. Thatâs not an apologyâthatâs a slap in the face.
I wouldnât recommend this place to anyone. Between the wait times, the food safety issues, and the way customers are treated, this was one of the worst dining experiences...
Read moreMy last two experiences at this location haven't been great, and although it seems out of character because I've gone to this PD all my life and had good experiences it's still not excusable. About a month ago I was with a party of 12 for a birthday and it took nearly a half hour to get our drinks, and for those who got alcoholic beverages (two beer and a Caesar, specifically) their glasses looked almost half-empty. I stayed for over an hour before I had to leave for an event and by that time my food was still not ready, so I had to get a family member to get it as takeout when it finally arrived.
And two weeks ago, I came to this location with 5 of my friends on a Sunday evening. Our waitress checked on us when she took our order and when she dropped it off but that was it, and she seemed pretty uninterested in talking to us. There was only one other table that had guests besides ours, but it still took nearly an hour to get our food after ordering with no drink refills in-between. Bread bar was also closed. Three of our six orders were wrong and at one point the waitress asked us what size the side garlic fingers were supposed to be as if we were supposed to know. After five of us had paid, she left our table without getting payment from our last friend. Overall a dragging and...
Read moreMy partner and I went for a late evening pizza and garlic fingers. It is my first time in since the renos and since moving back to Miramichi. I was so excited to see it the new look, but it was honestly just so uninviting, plain and bare. To the point that it was honestly all we could focus on and we have never felt that way in a restaurant before. We felt like we were in a prison or pushed into a corner for the bad kids. Some art work would do wonders just to take away the coldness!!! It appears that the buffet is now gone as well. (It was always the best in Miramichi, so that was a bit disappointing).. Also just as distracting was the radio. The sound system was muffled and full of static. The service was great, our Waitress was friendly and came back often to check on us. The pizza and garlic fingers were just okay. The garlic fingers were nice and hot but lacking that amazing garlic flavor we love. The pizza was hot but not as great as usual, something...
