Most interesting unique free park jewel in the area!
My family and I did a "pit stop" at this place during our Maritimes road trip in Jul 2023. We loved this park which had quite an interesting statue-like structure theme in the shape of a ship wreck. Located on the far east of Newcastle, I followed carefully the directions which was spot on. The park had an assortment of things to do: playground, picnic & benches to sit down, docks, lovely sightseeing into the riverfront, and fast-food and beverage options at reasonable prices. What caught our attention was the free open-air mini concerts: down-to-earth kind of musicians showing off their Acadian heritage through songs for which I enjoyed. I highly recommend this well-maintained place.

Time and time again, I was amazed at how much Miramichi can pack into such tiny areas and Richie Wharf Park was no exception.
As the name would suggest, it is right Ong the water and has incredible views throughout. However, it also has restaurants, a cocktail bar, snack shops, a playground, mini lighthouse, mock ship sails, river boat tours and historical buildings with a gift shop and mini museum.
It's a great place for everyone. Bring your dogs, kids, family members or just yourselves. You'll love it.

Beautiful waterfront park with amazing playground! Wish the swings were up right now, since it's May, but the weather has been awful so I guess they're waiting til it gets a bit nicer. I hope there's a baby swing when they do put them up :) we just moved from Montreal and are so happy to find a park that's as nice and awesome as the ones we were spoiled with back in QC! Can't wait to come back when all the shops are open!

A place I come to see every visit. There is a great park for the kids with a water slash pad. You can take a boat tour and learn the history of the river. Talented local musician sing live most nights. Walk along the board walk and enjoy the beauty. Very nice locals to talk to. Public washrooms are able. Ice and restaurants over looking the river.

A great place to bring yours kids or take your dog for a walk. You get great views of the Mighty Miramichi River. Boat rides, shoppes, restaurants, and even ducks are all here. The kids can cool down at the water buckets or enjoy the playground. Don't forget your can launch your body from here as well.

A nice visit to a little island with bad past. Just a short drive from the main town area in Miramichi, there was a lot more to see and learn than I had expected from this small area.
The island tells the history of one of the main ships carrying Irish immigrants back in the 19th century. This ship unfortunately ran into many problems resulting, as often was on these journeys, in calamity and death, but ultimately to the growth of the town's that welcomed (sometimes) the survivors.
There's a nice little loop walk that also showcases a children's story in sections throughout. There are also dozens of benches along the way in memoriam to many people over the years.
The small museum and visitor's centre is free and very informative and there's also a restaurant which is nice if you planned on having a BBQ at their picnic tables as there aren't any allowed on the island. Even as the rain became louder, it almost added to the experience of such a walk.

This is a purely serene place to visit. I'm sure it's not overly special to the locals but the quiet peaceful nature of this small island park make it a wonderful place to go sit and relax and just take in the magnificance of the Miramichi river. There's a small beach which was enjoyed by no more than a dozen people both times I went there. The benches and picnic tables are VERY sturdy and made from larger cuts of wood for longevity. While you are not permitted to cook food on the island, this park makes a perfect place to enjoy a cold picnic and swim.

Such a great place to visit. I felt a lot of power here. The history s incredibly sad. But a great place to visit and learn. We enjoyed snack on a bench over looking the Miramichi and walked along paths. Bring corn chips inside the middle of walking path in bush area we crunched chips and hand fed birds. We met a beautiful lil porcupine on out walk who allowed us to video him. If you are in the are do not miss and learn of the heartbreaking passage of Irish settlers.

Quaint and beautiful little island connected to the mainland on the Chatham side by a short road. Many people use this island during the bass season to fish from the island as well as the connecting road. It can get pretty busy. Captains galley restaurant can be found here as well as the Irish Historical park. Lots of ‘In loving memory’ chairs/benches. Can get pretty windy at times. Don’t forget to wear sunscreen.

We loved this park. We bought Creamsicle lemonade and iced coffee at Cali.Co and enjoyed it with our picnic then we walked the short trail around the island and visited the museum. It is very interesting. I also stuck my feet in the water at the sandy beach.

An interesting piece of New Brunswick history with a friendly and informative tour.
Having his name on numerous buildings within the province, it was interesting learning about the childhood of Lord Beaverbrook through his childhood home.
The tour is $5/person and is well worth it as it adds to the experience and to the excitement of learning. There are many things donated and not related to Lord Beaverbrook, just the time in which he lived in the town, but there are also numerous gems if you take the time to do the tour or just look carefully. Read the letter.

Petit musée situé dans la maison où Lord Beaverbrook a grandit. La maison compte trois étages, et le tour est vite fait.
