Ned was INCREDIBLY rude.
It was my first time here, came specifically for karaoke.
I stood around for about 5 minutes, no one greeted me which was fine they had a few tables and the bar was pretty full, just in front of of the karaoke station there was a row of about 4 empty booths, I sat in one and a lovely lady came over and asked if I’d like anything to eat or drink, well I don’t drink alcohol haven’t for 3 months. I’ve been going out and drinking water in establishments just fine, not everyone wants to eat food right away. She said “I’ll be right back with your water” instead Negative Ned came over and was less than professional with how he handled me.
Ned came over and said, with the water still in his hand hovering unwilling to serve me, “this is a business you can’t sit here it’s for paying customers only”, and kept repeating this statement several times even when I conceded and was about to place an order his Nasty Negative Ned attitude just continued very persistently, had he just said “I’m sorry ma’am if you could sit at the bar as we’re expecting a party” (maybe the sorry is too polite for him, I would’ve been fine with a bit more professionalism)
As I was looking through the menu he still stood there with my water in his hand, and he was still giving me a ton of attitude, who would want to order under these conditions?! I closed the menu and hurried away as he wouldn’t stop telling me it’s a business like a broken record.
He muttered “Okay, fine!” In a rude and unapologetic way, it was clear he doesn’t care how he treats anyone no matter who you are.
I asked if I may sit at the bar, he said yes. (Makes 0 sense if the entire row of booths were empty)
Only an Owner or a Manager could get away with acting like that because he acted like he had some power in the place.
Ned’s rude approach kept me from ordering that night at all, it will keep me from returning, his demeaning words and attitude doesn’t make someone want to spend money in this business. Maybe I chose his favourite booth. I stood the rest of my stay and enjoyed karaoke at least and at the end made a wonderful new friend.
We both won’t be back.
You never know who people are, treat your customers new and old with respect or at least common decency and give people at least a chance or warning in a BETTER way that doesn’t demean someone just visiting for...
Read moreWe have gone to this pub for years, although not to much recently. we usually go about once or twice a month. Food is usually good and service is good as well
This time was different, when we arrived there yesterday around 6 pm and there were only on 2 other people there. Normal as it was labour day and not too busy. we were greet within a few minutes and ordered our drinks. about 10 after 6 a family of 3 that we had seen there before came in and several minutes later a couple came in. they were all "regulars."
We had not yet been asked to order by this time, 15 minutes later. the person on duty immediately attended to the other tables getting their drinks, then about 5 minutes later taking came to take our order. oddly enough, 15 minutes later the other people got their food and, wait a minute, we were there first and ordered before them. finally another 10 minutes go by and our food came. i ordered the fish and chips with a side of poutine gravy and my wife had the steak sandwich with a poutine. her sandwich was great the fires were not really hot, my fires were barely luke warm. the fish was hot and i could tell by the colour of the batter (which was not golden but a darker colour) that it had been cooked twice to reheat. The fish was over cooked and dry, good thing i had beer to wash it down, the fries were not hot and most small bits of shoestring fries, (not impressed) and to top it of the gravy was not a good poutine gravy, it tasted more like an onion beef gravy that came from a package. Real poutine gravy is made from chicken and beef broth, with no onions and is much lighter in taste and colour. We ate up and left, didn't bother to complain as it would have taken another 30 minutes to get the meal replaced. all in all it too a better part of 50 minutes to get our meals
too bad as we love the wings and burgers here, but this has put a bad taste in my mouth, and combine it with bad service by treating people with preference, We...
Read moreWhat a great hidden gem this place is! I recently visited this pub with my friends, and we were genuinely impressed by the lively atmosphere and the variety of events they host. The highlight of our evening was the band and open mic night. Contrary to our expectation of a karaoke night, we were pleasantly surprised by the band's accommodating nature. They not only allowed us to participate in karaoke but also assisted in finding song lyrics and played along with their instruments. Their set was fantastic, featuring all the classics that added to the fun vibe.
The open mic segment was another treat, showcasing local talent and creating an inviting atmosphere. It was a joy to be part of a welcoming crowd and to enjoy performances by various artists.
However, our experience was somewhat marred by the service. Unfortunately, the waitress, an older lady with blonde hair, was not as attentive as we would have hoped. We found ourselves overlooked, needing to flag her down each time we wanted to order something. This was particularly noticeable during the early part of our visit when the pub wasn't very crowded. Our group literally watched her walk past our table avoiding eye contact with us, it was obvious she was avoiding us.
While we understand that everyone can have an off day, consistent attention to all customers is essential for a complete and enjoyable pub experience. We hope this feedback is taken constructively, as everything else about the pub was delightful.
Overall, despite the service hiccup, this pub is a fantastic spot for a fun night out, especially if you're looking to enjoy local music and talent. We would definitely recommend it and look forward to visiting again, hopefully with an improved service...
