2019-09-15 update:
I can't believe that it took me this long, but I finally had their bbq chicken. As the original review below references, I had for years had the Chickenland sandwiches. Tonight I had the 1/2 BBQ chicken with fries. Incredible value and quite possibly my favourite rotisserie chicken ever. The chicken literally fell off the bone, the meat was juicy and the skin cracklingly crispy. The fries were fresh and crispy and the gravy was rich and smoothly flavourful, much better than their chain competition. It all had so much flavour I don't know how they managed it. Highly highly highly recommended.
Original review: This is a small family run take out restaurant with delivery that serves the best fries I have had anywhere, but you have to eat them in the parking lot since they don't have seating. The Chickenland sandwich is heaven with the rotisserie chicken, pickles, mayo and garlic bread toasted to crispy perfection on the sandwich press. The chicken salad sandwich is another favourite. They are primarily a rotisserie chicken restaurant, but I can't stop getting their sandwiches so I can't help with an opinion on the rest of the menu, but I drive 20 minutes frequently just to sit in the gas station parking lot and eat. It is that good. And the family that runs it are some of the nicest you could ever want to meet, greeting regular customers by name and remembering...
Read moreI had a serious craving for chicken tonight and saw this place nearby. I’d glanced at it before on my walks in the neighborhood, but never went in. Now, I can’t imagine going anywhere else for roasted chicken.
First, wonderful service, really warmed my heart. This place has been in Mississauga for the past 36 years, and it really shows. They had the kind of genuine hospitality you receive from an old-fashioned family business. Super quick service too, especially since it’s a weekend night.
I got 1/2 a chicken (with an extra leg because I ordered dark meat), a mound of thick cut fries, a hefty dinner roll, and some gravy for $17 after tax. That’s it, just $17. Maybe the best price I’ve paid for good quality food in months. I have some fries still in the fridge because I literally couldn’t finish it.
It was so aromatic that it filled the room while it was still in the bag. The meat was literally falling off the bones when I picked it up, so tender and juicy. The skin was wonderfully crispy and a well-seasoned blend of savoury and sweet. And the dinner roll was so much better than I expected. Very soft and airy, like it was made that morning. Grade A comfort food to end a lazy Sunday.
I am so happy that this place survived COVID so I could find it now, and I hope they get even more support from the community. I’ll be...
Read moreBlown away...a cop recommended it to me, a bit out of the way driving from Oakville, on the way I was thinking "it's rotisserie chicken, so I set my standards to, St Hubert, Swiss chalet...or a mom n pop chicken restaurant..and if it is going to get my attention it would have to de-throne Kenny Rogers Roasters.(RIP). BUT REALLY HOW GOOD COULD IT BE??? So close to Kenny it is scary...unlike Swiss chalet dipping sauce (clove and nutmeg heavy) or St Hubert sauce (cinnamon and pepper heavy)
Chicken land has more balanced sauce, with more sage.. giving a more down to earth traditional taste. The chicken was more tender with more moisture.
Fries were good.. stayed warm, and nice and crispy, didn't get soggy at all..but nothing extraordinary...if you want the best a 1 hr trip to Luannes fries in the summer.
The wings are fryers...so tiny pub size However the flavor and the sausiness. Made the BEST fryer wings I have ever had!! Suicide was very hot..but palatable, I wasn't dying by any means.. good but of heat I could crush 10 Unlike the best wings in my book Monahans...they use Bakers wings.. That suicide wing...you are a hero if you can eat 4.. legend if you can eat 10
PLEASE KNOW Chicken land is TAKE OUT and delivery only
DEFINITELY WORTH THE DRIVE TO COLLEGEWAY AND GLEN ERIN!
WOW!!...
