Health and Taste Concerns at Lena's Roti and Doubles
My encounter at Lena's Roti and Doubles was unfortunately memorable for all the wrong reasons. On arrival, I was greeted by the establishment's clean appearance and the welcoming setup with plentiful seating, all promising for a solo diner such as myself. The staff were cordial, providing service with a smile, and the prices appeared to be on par with market standards, which was initially comforting.
The onset of disappointment began subtly with the aroma of the chicken roti – nothing out of the ordinary for a roti shop but nothing to excite the senses either, especially while still ensconced in the bag. This disappointment was solidified upon tasting. The roti, a dish that should tantalize with its blend of spices and succulent chicken, was starkly bland and carried an off-putting scent that became apparent after breaking into the bread.
The experience took a sharper downturn with the doubles. The expectation of a spicy chickpea filling nestled between two pieces of soft, turmeric-infused flatbread was dashed by the overwhelming smell of fish oil, which was peculiar and unwelcome. The first bite confirmed my olfactory suspicions – it was unequivocally inedible.
To my distress, the aftermath of dining at Lena's was marked by physical ailment, with repeated and urgent trips to the restroom. It's a discomforting correlation that suggests the food was the likely culprit. Moreover, the individual for whom I had purchased a takeaway meal from Lena's also reported a similar adverse reaction after consuming their food, which compounds my concerns.
With a heavy heart, I feel compelled to warn potential customers of the risks at Lena's Roti and Doubles. While it's one thing to receive food that falls short in flavor, it's a grave matter when food safety becomes questionable. I believe it's imperative for the management to reassess their food preparation standards and for health inspectors to ensure the establishment meets all safety regulations to prevent such incidents.
To those considering Lena's for their next meal, please proceed with caution. I regret to say that this visit has been a thoroughly unpleasant experience, both gastronomically and...

We really enjoyed your fine establishment's food today. It felt like a wonderful trip to the sunny warm Caribbean islands. Heavenly delicious. Everything arrived piping hot. Very generous portions, which genuinely reflects the generous hospitable culture that the Caribbean people are globally famous for. Professional presentation of everything, safely & nicely arranged in sealed bags. This is what was ordered by me & my wife & our friends today: Doubles, Aloo Pie, Veggie Platter (Curry Mango, Tomatoes Choka, Fried Bodi, Paratha), Bone-in Goat, Sugar Cake, Kurma, Currants Roll, various tasty sauces & refreshing beverages (eg. delicious Sorrel Cream Soda). Every item was very tasty & very fresh. The Bone-in Goat dish had lots of very flavourful meat & is a great choice for meat-lovers. The Paratha was gigantic & delicious. Each item in the Veggie Platter was very flavorful & yummy. The Doubles & Aloo Pie were very tasty & satisfying. Even the homemade Hot Sauce was amazing. Plenty of complimentary napkins & plastic cutlery was provided. Superb customer service. We highly recommend Radica's Hot & Spicy Restaurant to everyone out there. Read morePlaced an order over the phone for my grandma ordering some food and mango, the person took the order without confirming what type I wanted so that ended up being wrong but aside from that the service was subpar and the lady serving that day is rude. I called back to ask whether I was charged for it or not and she immediately took a defensive tone and handled it very poorly. I was merely calling back to confirm if I was charged for it. Even in the restaurant she carried an attitude from the start, unprofessional people like this is enough reason to visit someplace else, I would recommend going to Leelas; quality of food is much better and service has always been good with a friendly atmosphere. Foods alright here but the doubles are distasteful, the chickpeas are always hard; not nice and soft. Only reason my family resorts to ordering here has been out of convenience but ny last visit, my familys patronage will be ending at this...
