Service was acceptable. Food was way below average.
I ordered 3 dishes: coconut shrimp, wild mushroom pizza, duck confit salad.
The shrimp was the least bad. I felt like I was in a Midwest seafood restaurant where everything is deep fried and lacking in flavor. The batter was thick. I could taste the coconut but not the small shrimp.
Next was the wild mushroom pizza. To be fair this was the best of the three. My complaint is that it was all button mushrooms. No wild mushrooms whatsoever. Why not just advertise truthfully and call it “mushroom pizza”.
Finally the duck confit salad. This was absolutely terrible. I did complain and was told that their interpretation of duck confit was dried duck. They call it crispy but it was not crispy like Peking duck. It was just dried duck meat. It was so bad that it was mildly funny. I’ve not had a dish that was so far off from description in a very long time.
To the chef’s credit he did come out and hear my complaints and then offered me a complimentary dessert which I declined. I just didn’t want to try their dessert after 3 misses...
Read moreAwesome supper (room service), so updating my review. After our terrible lunch experience in the dining room, we gave them another chance for dinner, and clearly the A team was working. The half chicken dinner was superb. Delivered within 20 minutes, warm, and delicious. Below is my original review (lunch):
Lunch review: Incredibly slow, rude wait staff. Had to ask multiple times for things and each time took ages. Waiter got belligerent after seeing the low tip and deliberately made us wait for containers to take up to our room. He was making a show of it with his buddies in the kitchen area. He is on the wrong line of work.
The normal menu was not available due to a dance group, so only a few options were available despite it being mostly empty. Chicken from grill was covered in foul tasting burnt crud. Pizza had little on it and the sauce was just tomato paste (nothing else). Caesar salad was just lettuce and dressing. So many more problems we were left laughing and dishing our heads. Even the takeout...
Read moreWe walked in for breakfast today, and the place was packed even though we weren’t staying at the hotel. It was my first time here, so I wasn’t sure whether to go for the buffet or à la carte. Thankfully, our server recommended trying the buffet, mentioning that we could also order eggs through it. That turned out to be a great suggestion there was plenty to eat, especially the fresh fruits and smoothies. The ambiance was a bit noisy and busy, but still acceptable given how popular the place seemed. A special shoutout to our server, Leo he was incredibly hardworking. He checked on us frequently to make sure we had everything we needed. One moment that really impressed us was when the table next to ours, who didn’t speak English, seemed confused. A man in a black suit (possibly a supervisor or manager) wasn’t able to explain things clearly to them, but Leo stepped in and solved the issue using simple English and body language. It was quite an impressive moment to witness. Overall, great service and a solid...
