Nirvana The Flavors of India: A Vegetarian Heaven
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Nirvana – The Flavors of India, and it was nothing short of an extraordinary experience. As a fan of Indian cuisine, I was excited to explore their newly launched menu, and I must say, it exceeded all my expectations. This Indian restaurant has always been known for offering authentic flavors, but with their revamped dishes, they’ve taken it to an entirely new level—especially for vegetarians. If you’ve ever wondered where to find a paradise for your taste buds, Nirvana is definitely the place to be.
New Menu Highlights: A Vegetarian’s Dream Come True As a vegetarian, I’m always on the lookout for new and exciting dishes that go beyond the usual fare of dal and vegetable curries. Nirvana’s new menu truly felt like a haven for those who appreciate the richness and diversity of Indian vegetarian cuisine. They have introduced a variety of innovative dishes that combine traditional flavors with modern presentation.
Appetizers: A Perfect Start I began my meal with two appetizers that are now at the top of my list when it comes to Indian starters: the Paneer Seekh Kebab and the Tandoori Mushroom.
Main Course: Unique Dishes You Won’t Find Anywhere Else When it came to the main course, Nirvana truly surprised me with their creativity. They’ve introduced several innovative dishes that are unlike anything I’ve come across in typical Indian restaurants.
Khushrang Paneer: This dish was an absolute standout! The Khushrang Paneer is a celebration of paneer in all its glory, cooked in a rich, flavorful gravy that combines a unique blend of spices with a subtle sweetness. It had a perfect balance of creaminess and spice, and the paneer cubes were soft and luscious. The hint of sweetness brought out the depth of the spices, making it one of the most memorable dishes I’ve had.
Paneer Mirchi Korma: For those who like a little heat in their food, Paneer Mirchi Korma is a must-try. This dish is packed with bold flavors from the green chilies, yet it is tempered by the richness of the korma sauce. The combination of spices was perfectly balanced, offering a gentle warmth that didn’t overwhelm the palate but added a lovely depth to the dish. The paneer was cooked to perfection and soaked up all the delicious flavors, making it an absolute treat.
Nirvana also offers a Lachha Paratha that adds a touch of authenticity to the meal, and its flaky texture was just divine.
Desserts: A Sweet Finish To end the meal, I opted for the Gulab Jamun, and it was everything I hoped for—soft, syrup-soaked, and perfectly sweet. Nirvana's take on this classic Indian dessert was flawless, offering a perfect end to an unforgettable meal.
Overall Experience I was truly impressed with the new menu at Nirvana – The Flavors of India. The creativity and innovation behind each dish, combined with their dedication to using high-quality ingredients, truly sets this restaurant apart. The vegetarian options are abundant and thoughtfully curated, making it a paradise for vegetarians, and even non-vegetarians would find the flavors irresistible.
Nirvana has succeeded in providing a wonderful balance of traditional Indian cuisine and modern twists that elevate the dining experience. Whether you're a vegetarian or someone looking to try new and exciting flavors, this restaurant delivers with every dish.
Highly recommended—Nirvana is truly a gem, and I can't wait to return to explore even more of their...
Read moreThis place Gives you a fine dining experience with a vibe of sitting in a cultural heritage related place specially with their huge painting in the main hall and other places in the restaurant. They have a main hall and side alleys/rooms for seating people and there are ample of tables - from 4 seater square/rectangle ones to 8 seater circular ones.
Coming to the food... The taste and quality of food is good.. I would easily give it a 4.1/5 based on my two visits. On our recent visit we tried their veg platter which was decent enough and stuffed aloo kebabs (don't remember exact name) and they were really flavourful and delicious. They were served with mint chutney and tamarind chutney served in the side separately. Our main course this time was different than the usual dal makhani, paneer n butter chicken which is also very flavourful. This time we ordered their Nirvana dal ( 5 lentil mix dal) and white till wali bhindi along with garlic naan, tandoori roti, a side of vinegar onions ( pickled onions) and mocktails.
The Nirvana dal was very delicious you can definitely give it a try if you are bored eating dal makhani always... You might find it to be a similar version but with different dal(lentils). Till wali bhindi was okayish like a simple clean prep at home - not fancy but fine to eat. The roti n naan were soft to consume. Also tried their chicken malai tikka which was okayish but not amazing. My suggestion for vinegar onions would be that they are not great, taste wise they are fine but the onions are the regular sized onions diced and soaked in vinegar rather than those small ones , thus they miss out on the crunch and the overall experience in mouth.
In Mocktails we tried most of the items in the list and they were all fine.
Service is OK. But as I like to observe for eye contact with person serving our table and time to get food to our tables specially during busy hours and review service based on that I would say that they can improve on that.. I would give service a 3.5. service staff can be polished to be more confident in interaction while they remained polite always. Eye contact with Service staff is difficult while they are busy running to kitchen and servicing other tables.
Pricing is a little costly when you have had drinks and desserts too but is still a recommend place to dine out.
Overall a 4.05...
Read moreWe have been going here ever since I first came to Canada and this place has always been consistent even until now! We ordered Paneer Labadar and Palak Kofta and both were delicious! Even though Palak Kofta is not on the menu anymore (was there in the past and it was our favourite), our server Anjali suggested she ask the chef if it can be made and lo and behold, it was. Both sabzis were as delicious as we last had them before the pandemic. They do not cut corners in their food at all: the paneer was soft and there was natural flavour in both sabzis from a plethora of mixed ingredients like nuts, dry fruits etc. The Nirvana naan and Roomali Roti were also amazing in taste and quality. The nirvana naan is their version of a garlic naan and trust me, in 15 years of living in this country, it was the most flavourful piece of garlic naan I had. It doesn’t feel like garlic is just spread on the naan but rather a great mix of texture with coriander and onion flavour is present!
While most restaurants would add in chilly flakes and call a curry “spicy” and throw in cream to call it “creamy”, Nirvana actually puts effort in their food that they still haven’t compromised on and actually use natural spices to give flavour to their curries. Although this wouldn’t be surprising 10 years ago, their commitment to quality is commendable!
We also LOVE their wide range of choices in the menu. To get Roomali Roti and Palak Kofta in the same place these days is really outstanding!! Their large choice of Paneer Curries is also extremely appealing and convinces us to come here at the end of the day!
The quantity was also VERY GENEROUS in portions and that’s a satisfying feeling given their price increase from inflation and other factors. Their choice of newer appetizers like the Chef’s signature Potato kebab was also very welcoming!
Again, I cannot be more endorsing of our server Anjali who went above and beyond to translate for my mother and even checked in her order to ensure it met her specific spice level requirements. She even took many pictures of us. Little things like that go a long way.
We appreciate their level of consistency, quality and quantity. And their improved service attitude is...
