Stopped into the Philthy's in Mississauga (on Oct.26 2017) after seeing some of the pics and reading the reviews (good and bad). I'll try and breakdown the general "4 star" I gave it, so it makes sense. We ordered the: "Big Boss" (large) and "Philly Cheesesteak" (regular) sandwiches and the "meat Eater" (regular) poutine. Staff - welcoming, helpful, gave good suggestions and clarified any questions we had. They were not grumpy and looking like they were forced to be there. Food Flavor - very good. both sandwiches and the poutine (and meat and gravy on the poutine) had very good flavor (for 'fast food', remember this isnt the same steak you're getting at Ruth Chris lol). Neither of us took a bite of any of the items and thought "this could use more...". Important to mention there are a lot of unique sauces/dressings that can be used on the sandwiches or as side dip. Size/quantity - very good. There was a good balance of meat/toppings to bread on the sandwiches; actually my large size "big boss" sandwich might have had (dare I say it) too much meat - to the point where it was impossible to 'close' the sandwich and eat it. When i attempted to close the sandwich, the bread literally tore apart due to the amount of meat/weight and the meat fell out everywhere (which actually made it somewhat frustrating and very messy to eat). I ended up scooping up all the extra meat and toppings and eating them on their own. The management should consider using a larger in diameter and thickness bread when making the larger, more 'heavy' sandwiches, as the bread easily falls apart and the inside of the sandwich ends up everywhere except in your mouth. The poutine had a great amount of cheese, gravy and meat to fries ratio; every fork was full of fries covered in cheese, gravy & meat. Cost - average at best. The two sandwiches (regular & Large) and poutine (regular) ended up costing $44 after tax; which is significant considering you're eating at a 'fast food' joint. I would recommend checking it out, as the choices, flavor & quality is good - but not going on a regular basis, as the cost will add up, fast.

Visited this location for the first time with pretty decent expectations and was met with maybe just one smile away from a subpar experience. There was more energy into the kitchen prep work being done as it echoed the cold walls than the customers in front of them and the food they put out. A Philthy Philly steak sandwich looked like a sloppy sad never wanted to even be made steak sandwich. It's like they mixed all the toppings in a salad bowl, put it in the bread, wrapped it up and dropped it on the way for some final touch. Then the fries...a basic menu staple item in every fast food joint was undercooked, pale and soggy like is that really something you'd want to serve? I mean come on you don't have to be filled with a blazing passion for food to put out a decent looking meal you just have to be a decent human being with standards but perhaps the standards didn't clock in that day :(

I just ordered a Philly Cheese Steak (BOGO) and fries (BOGO) for dinner through UE. The sandwich came with a sample of cheese, and the steak didn't look fresh. The fries were old and gummy, simply unbeatable, and not fresh at all. One of the boxes with fries looked like coming from the bottom of the container cause most of them were small parts. Whoever prepared the food didn't care much about quality food, customers, or even the business itself. I'd appreciate care and transparency getting a message about the fries instead, I wouldn't mind honestly. I had a good experience before, buying the same sandwich, but I won't ever take the risk of ordering from this location again.

verbally abusive manager horrible customer service

now this is long because i want to lay the situation out clearly. the costumer service at this location is absolutely horrible, i went in and ordered the ultimate chicken wrap the man who was taking my order must have misheard me because i got a buffalo chicken wrap which whatever it’s fine accidents happen i want to make clear that i did not order the buffalo wrap, buffalo sauce for some reason has always makes me feel sick and kinda weird so i NEVER order it. I walk back home take a bite of the wrap and i realize they messed up gave me the wrong wrap usually i would just eat it but because it’s buffalo sauce i just call them and say hey look i think you guys messed up my order the guy who was taking it misheard me or something cause i have the buffalo wrap when i ordered the ultimate the lady who i was talking to on the phone right off the bat was defensive saying no that’s not possible but she agrees if i come in with the wrap she’ll make me a new one. so i walk back over she makes me a new wrap i’m just trying to get ready for work and by the time she finishes the new wrap it’s been an hour since i initially ordered the first so i just nicely asked her hey is it possible to just get a refund for this which i don’t think is a crazy ask i mean i work in costumer service usually if there’s an accident with the food we will replace it and refund that dish so i figured i’d just ask because at this point it had been like an hour in total and she was immediately shocked and almost laughing at me asking why on earth i should get a refund and i just try explaining to her like i’m now running late to work because of this like i understand it’s not your fault but it’s also not my fault the guy just misheard me and she immediately gets irritated with me and up until that point i had been nothing but kind to her and she becomes very degrading and she’s calling me a horrible person and such and is becoming verbally abusive with me i’ll admit i had a bad day leading up to this but until she had raised her voice at me i hadn’t raised mine at her but regardless an employee shouldn’t be yelling at costumers and treating them in a degrading manner at this point i just left with my wrap because i was running late to work and i had had a tiring day and just really wasn’t in the mood the be fighting over stupid things but i decided to go back in and just get my refund and give her back the wrap because at this point after how i’d been treated i didn’t want to eat it anymore and when i go back asking to just have my refund instead she escalated the situation and started picking on me and at that point i was so done and since asking for the refund i had tried to explain the situation multiple times but every time i did she cut me off and wouldn’t let me talk and proceeded to tell me how i was wrong and it was all my fault and talking to me like an idiot asking me if i knew how to read…. like common i even just said can you let me talk for a second to explain this and she just kept cutting me off. i’m someone who cries when they are yelled at and i was so done i just wanted to get my money and leave so i didn’t start crying in the middle of this takeout restaurant but she took forever getting my money and kept taking knocks at me. i’m sorry she’s worked i costumer service for 15 years but clearly she needs a new job where i work and i’m sure many other places if a costumer leaves crying because of how badly they were treated that would be grounds...

Update:

I gave this place another shot for something as simple as a box of onion rings. I asked for a medium. They gave a small. I asked them to correct it and I would pay for the medium since they only charged me for a small and they told me it was too late. They threw the onion rings in a bag and gave them to me. I got home. The breading was hot and oily but the onion was still cold which tells me they didn't even finish cooking the onion rings. I called. Spoke to someone claiming to be the manager who told me to come back in today to get a free order and apologized for the mix-up And food quality issue. Selan is the real manager and an absolute horrible person to deal with. He yells more than he speaks and he doesn't even speak clearly. He blames everybody but himself even though he is the franchise owner. Says he doesn't know who the person is that I spoke with last night and wasn't going to honor what I was told because I didn't return the cold onion rings to him that night. My next email is to my local Ombudsman to get this place shutdown!

Food here at Clarkson Crossing is usually good. Tonight though sadly, not good. Bun wasn't toasted. I asked for slaw on the side. The guy put it in the bag WITHOUT A LID!!! Needless to say. It was a mess by the time we got it home. Will reconsider my options with rushed customer...
