We decided to go to the Lady Slipper after a recommendation from the Montague Tourist Information folks, we arrived on a busy Tuesday morning, and took a seat in the back corner, off the bat it had a dated vibe, but that's definitely only part of the picture. Overall the food was delicious, and we would recommend the eggs Benedict & the Meat Breakfast Bowl.
The following is a breakdown of The Lady Slipper on our scale
Customer Service 2/5 - our server was very nice, however she seemed to be the only one for the fair sized restaurant. Which led to the feeling that they were under staffed, it was too busy for the waitress to be able to have the personal service feel
Presentation 4/5 - The food looked delicious as it was placed on the table but wasn't anything extraordinary.
Value 4/5 - the value was good, portion sizes were average and large enough to not leave you hungry, but it also won't completely stuff you.
Taste 5/5 - Both the All Meat Breakfast Bowl & Eggs Ben were delicious, their hollandaise sauce was delicious, would highly recommend either of these dishes
Cleanliness/ Facilities / Decor 3.5/5 The restaurant was very clean, however the decor was dated, and the bench seats were uncomfortable hard plastic
Overall the Lady Slipper earns a 17.5/25...
Read moreIt has potential. Been there a few times and the food is always good, but that's all it tends to be. Substitutions get forgotten a lot, I've heard customers around me have the same problems too. Not a big deal, due to the servers being very apologetic and fixing things.
The main problem is they don't have their own personality yet. The old KFC signs are either just there or opened up to see the fluorescent lights inside (not turned on of course). The decor is mixed and old decor is scattered in the back, the cooks don't seem to have their heart in it--however, i am only judging based on what I saw on the couple days I was there
Everything inside says that the spot hasn't found itself yet. I truly believe in the lady slipper, though. I'll continue to eat there, even if the atmosphere doesn't change, as I love having breakfast there. I hope one day you guys find who you are; Montague needs a cute little diner and I love the idea of one. (We also need more good spots for...
Read moreWow! Photos show 2 meals. Breakfast, and a lunch: a Cuban pulled pork and ham sandwich. Can’t say enough. Every single thing on the plate was a surprise. Shredded potatoes! Where do you ever see these any more? Perfectly grilled. Plump juicy maple sausage. Crispy bacon and eggs, perfectly done. The Cuban sandwich was a taste explosion. Absolutely delicious: every bite. The sweet potato fries were perfectly crispy, and the dip they provided was homemade and you could taste the difference. Our server was working alone, but was attentive and cheerful - thank you! We’ve been to too many restaurants lately where overworked staff made us feel like we were a bother and an interruption, not a valued customer. Oh! And reading the owner/chef’s story on the back page of the menu made the dining experience very special. Stop in here! You’re not going to find better food anywhere on the island. Pass by the fast food outlets and support this small business. You’ll be so...
