Ok so I am going to give a detailed review of this place. Bare with me.

Appayon is an authentic Bangladeshi restaurant based in parc, Montreal. It's the first of its kind here in this city. The food here basically reminds me of home.

So I've been to this restaurant just once, as a fairly new restaurant celebrating it's 1st anniversary with its ramadan special which is what I went for, the iftar buffet. This consisted of several items such as pilau, chicken roast, beef rezala, egg korma, soft khichdi, fried items: piyaju, veg pakora, potato chop, eggplant and then there was chhola, salad, puffed rice, fruits and dates. This buffet also consists of juice and water.

I honestly didnt expect much considering the countless Indian restautants I have been to, either here or the UK; no matter how low my expectation are, I usually get disappointed. Appayon however, pleasantly surprised me. They items were not only satisfactory but so much more. I loved the Halim, which was a piece of Dhaka that I have missed all these years abroad. It was delicious with the perfect consistency, and had the perfect combination of spices. The beef rezala was amazing; I am honestly never satisfied with beef rezala anywhere but Appayon has truly done it with their cooking, it tasted like my grandma's rezala. The fried stuff were all crunchy yet tasty, the potato chop tasted amazing and I loved how they used mustard oil instead of vegetable oil. The service was good too, they constantly kept refilling the food, keeping them warm and fresh. The owners were very professional and were very pleasant. I took some pan masala at the end from the counter and one of the owners even offered to give me a container, obviously noticing how crazy I was about them.

I am truly overwhelmed with the food and service of the people running this place, and all of this for just $16. I urge you go and give this place a try whether you are Bangladeshi or not, this place will give you a true taste of Bangladeshi food, and you...

If you want to explore the richness of flavor, spices and diversity of Bengali cuisine, do make it a point to visit the only authentic Bangladeshi and East Indian cuisine restaurant in Montreal. I have been in Montreal for the past 4.5 years and I was missing the representation of the diverse cuisines present in India. Almost all of the Indian restaurants in Montreal are either North Indian cuisine or South Indian. The East Indian and Bangladeshi cuisine with its own style of preparation was simply not available here. Appayon has majestically filled that void. And they have done it so well! The food reminded me of the food back in my hometown, Kolkata. The food preparation is done without compromising on the taste or ingredients and the menu is concise and still sufficient to satiate the palate of a Bengali cuisine enthusiast.

We ordered all the fish preparations, singaras, aalu chop, dal, brinjal fry along with rice. We completely enjoyed ourselves, the food was amazing. Every preparation was to the point and excellently made. The food was not very spicy(as in hot) and we could taste all the different flavors in the different preparations. The owner, who also happened to be our server, explained that the food is prepared in the same way as one would prepare at their home. So, no compromise has been made on the preparations. Every item is made from scratch and thus every gravy and every dish will taste different. This really impressed us.

The price of food is also very reasonable and similar to other budget restaurants. The service and ambiance was also great!

We were so busy eating the food that we could take pictures of just few of the food items.

We will surely go back there soon and would take more of our friends there. I totally recommend this place. Try this restaurant,...

Highly recommended! Catering Services 60 people

Food - Traditional Bengali Wedding Menu Having sampled Appayon's amazing food at several weddings, we chose Appayon to cater wedding of immediate family member.

Price is Fair Appayon's quality justified the price. While not the absolute cheapest, the cost was reasonable. When budgeting, consider the event type, guests, and whether minimal savings outweigh the sacrifice in quality. In our case, saving overall $120 on a cheaper option wasn't worthwhile.

Impeccable Service Owner invited us for a tasting, providing a warm welcome and demonstrating a great sense of humor, listened to our feedback, and made it his priority to ensure the food was to our taste and delivered on time. He personally delivered the food, right on schedule.

Overall We're delighted we chose Appayon. Ignoring claims that Appayon is expensive was the right decision. Give it a try, call and ask, getting a quote is worthwhile.

If Appayon maintains quality of food and service while upholding fair pricing; will foster customer loyalty and drive sustained...

Two years of wait later I finally made time to see the only Bangali restaurant in Montreal! Appayon is a hidden gem that transported us straight to the heart of Bengali cuisine. The flavors at Appayon are spectacular. Each dish bursts with authenticity, carrying the aroma of Bangladeshi cuisine. The menu is a delightful blend of traditional and contemporary dishes. We went as a group so we could try a variety of beef tehari, goru bhuna, morog polao and biriyani, all of which were perfectly crispy and savory. We also paired with fish, cutlets, kabab and bhorta, which were rich, creamy, and bursting with flavor. the chaa made my day! The portions are hearty, satisfying, and perfect for sharing. Whether you’re a solo diner or part of a group, you’ll leave with a contented belly and a smile. Overall, Appayon Restaurant is a gem in Montréal’s dining scene. Whether you’re a local or just visiting, this restaurant is a must-visit for any Bangali missing home. Gather your loved ones, savor the flavors, and let the warmth of Bangladeshi hospitality envelop you.

My second experience trying Bangladeshi/Bengali food (both at different restaurants). Most people have tried Indian food, but not Bangladeshi/Bengali food. It's definitely a cuisine that many people need to discover. So flavourful while being also quite spicy! (can be toned down upon request). We ordered the following. Appetizers: -Haleem: beef and lentil stew. This was incredible! Warm and hearty, and nice and spicy! -Muglai Portata: Loved this one as well! It was so tasty! Crepe filled with egg omelette, chilis, chives & onions and served with a spicy mayo Mains: -Beef Tehar: similar to a beef biryani -Jasmine Rice -Chicken Roast Pulao: so tender and moist, it was served with a rich, sweet gravy. -Tuna Fish Cakes: they were tasty, but I much preferred the other dishes which tasted more unique to me. Dessert: -Mishti Doi: traditional sweet yogurt dessert which is the perfect finish for a spicy meal I definitely recommend this restaurant. Casual setting.
