After two disappointing visits to this restaurant, I decided to give it one last try and I’m happy to say the food was much better this time. But first, let’s talk about the service.
When we arrived, we waited outside in front of the terrace for about five minutes before someone finally told us that if we wanted to sit inside, we needed to go in ourselves. It would've been nice if that had been clearer from the start. Once inside, we waited another five minutes before being seated. Not a huge deal, but we were hungry and would’ve appreciated better communication.
We were seated at a table that was really close to others, and I found the restaurant very dark. Like, flashlight-to-read-the-menu kind of dark not exactly pleasant.
Now onto the ordering experience. I mentioned to the waitress that we were planning to share the appetizer, but what arrived was a tiny portion—definitely not shareable. It felt a bit off, like maybe they were upselling rather than genuinely trying to help us enjoy our meal. The waitress could’ve let us know that the portion was super small and suggested something more suitable for sharing.
The wait for food was a little long around ( we were starved so it could of felt longer then it was) We got drinks while waiting: I had an Aperol Spritz which unfortunately had a bug in it. They replaced it free of charge, which was appreciated, but still not a great impression. The waitress also accidentally spilled cheese on me and my phone, not the end of the world, but definitely not ideal.
Now for the food:
Appetizer (seafood plate): Very disappointing. It had one octopus tentacle, four shrimp, a few calamari, and way too many greens. For $26, it just didn’t feel worth it especially with bland sauce and small portions. 2/5 Drinks: Pretty basic. Nothing impressive and quite bitter, almost like something you could throw together at home. 3/5 Lasagna: The star of the night. It was delectable, rich, cheesy, and flavorful. I just wish it had a little more meat, but otherwise, no complaints. 4.75/5 Overall, I was definitely happier with this experience compared to my previous visits. While the service and some elements of the food were still lacking, the lasagna alone might be worth coming back for, maybe next year though, since this seems to be my...

Read moreWhat could've been a disaster and a bad review turned out to be an impressive exercise in customer service! We are in Montreal for vacation and came in on a busy Mother's Day for dinner. Service started out slow, but very friendly. My son ordered pasta with lobster and shrimp. About 40 minutes went by; we noticed people around us -- who had arrived after we did -- were dining and finishing their meals.
Then the server came over and said a large party had ordered the last of the dish my son had chosen, so he had to pick something else. While we understood that this sort of thing happens, we were perplexed that it took so long to tell us. Then another 20 minutes or so dragged by and still no food. Finally, we got up, paid for the bread we had ordered, and left in search of dinner.
To our surprise, a young man ran after us, found us on the street, and told us the food was ready and it was on the house. We went back with him (not gonna lie, it felt awkward to walk back into this tiny place!) and enjoyed really amazing food! I had gnocchi; my husband had ravioli; and my son chose chicken parm. Our server apologized to us and brought us a dessert tray from heaven!
I didn't catch her name, but really appreciated her kind words. It was clearly important to her to make this right, which honestly was...
