One of my fav work haunts. I love the newly renovated space - it’s light, open, and airy. Kind of like a posh Instagram influencer’s dream space.

What I’m not so hot on is the music. Sometimes it’s great. Sometime it sucks. Sometimes it’s too loud. You just never know what you’re walking into... it can either turn you into a work powerhouse - or be a total distraction.

The muffins. CAN WE TALK ABOUT THE MUFFINS.

The berry muffin in particular is a showstopper. It’s so chock full of berries and most (I know, gross word, but still) it literally falls apart and begs to be eaten. And the crumble top staaaaahp it, too good!

Honourable mention also goes to the banana chocolate chip muffin.

I haven’t seen it in a while (might be seasonal) but the poppyseed lemon loaf should be outlawed for its addictive quality. Actually, maybe THAT’S why I don’t see it on the menu anymore.

I also like that more Melks are cropping up around the city do there are more places to take in the chill...

Usually love this place. All the baristas are super friendly and nice to chat with. I reliably get a great drink made well every time I come in (a few times a week). The other day there was someone I’d never seen working who threw off the whole vibe (an older woman maybe mid 40s). She seemed friendly enough with customers but was rushing and stressing while making my drink. She also seemed to snap at the other people working which was very tense and weird to see. I’m not sure if she thought they were moving too slowly or doing something incorrectly but it was way more disruptive to have someone so visibly frustrated than it would’ve been to wait another minute for a drink. The chaotic energy felt more suited to a starbucks or fast food spot than the cozy local coffeeshop I’m used to. Hoping she was just a trainee (and there’s always room to improve!) but, owning a business myself, I’m always happy to receive feedback and wanted to...

Great coffee and scones but not a very accessible space, it is too crowded with tables, no high chairs, i don’t recall there being a changing table. And no wifi... sorry but that’s pretty garbage... I bought my 5$ cappuccino, squeezed myself into a table, set up my computer and could not find the network so I squeezed myself back out, asked the barista and was told no wifi... so I downed my cappuccino and went down the street to Starbucks. I was on a deadline and needed to get about 30 min of work done before going to my other job... so basically waste of time and money. Maybe put a sign on the door- No Wifi so ppl don’t...

I thoroughly enjoy this café bar on Monkland. Cordial service and nice vibes. Great coffee, delicious pastries, small fridge with snacks & beverages (yogurt, chia pudding, kombucha, Kiju juices, etc) and even some meals to go such as salad bowl. They also sell Parallel and Detour coffees as well as brewing goodies (accessories, KeepCups, Chemex, Barista Alternative Milks, etc.) Great place to read a book/mag, meetup with friends and even work on your latptop. There is no wifi: it has its upside and downside. Upside being that seating becomes available within a reasonable timeframe! Downside: you’ll have to Hot-Spot? No biggy!

I was lucky to get a seat and stayed for a few hours because the place is nice. It was SO busy the ENTIRE time. Just nonstop customers, tables would open but only for a moment before someone swooped in to take it. It is obviously very popular. The staff is fantastically friendly and the drinks are good. Pumpkin Spice Latte was lovely and was the regular latte. The Dulce de Lèche latte was mildly sweet. The place is comfortable, though a bit noisy with music and so many people coming in and out. More of a bustling cafe vibe than a calm, quiet space.

I absolutely loved my time at MELK Cafe! The service was amazing, and the place is just adorable – the perfect little cozy spot. It’s also super kid-friendly, especially with those delightful macaroons! My kids shared a hot chocolate while I enjoyed a matcha latte, and we spent a lovely afternoon just hanging out together. I can't recommend MELK enough for a date night or a family outing – it’s truly a charming spot that everyone will enjoy!
