ADDED REVIEW JUNE 21ST 2025 Since our first time (previous review below) we came back at least 7 times. Once again, the experience was spectacular!!! The menu varies from time to time but they keep their usuals. You won't be disappointed. Also, they have plenty of choices in which includes Gluten free meals. The ambiance is always amazing but the guests who join in on the fun makes it even better! To summarize, it's a great place to go and have fun in a medieval environment, with staff who makes it fun and interactive. If you ever have doubts going there just know it's an experience you cannot miss out on! If you're looking for a quiet place, this place isn't for you lol! One again, congrats to L'Auberge du Dragon Rouge for this amazing spot! Best regards, Beaton's family 😘 ---‐----------------------------- This was the best culinary experience I have been in a long time!!! Innkeeper Darius was our innkeeper all throughout the night. This guys should win an awards for being in his character all night. He's certainly love what is he doing. Professional but really friendly and know how to make us feel like at home. Yell DARIUS!!! and he will be at your table in no time. Food The feast was excellent! We ordered le Festin gargantuesque for 2 peoples which include this : - Boar sausage - Duck confit leg - Chicken leg - Ribs - Meat pie - Coleslaw and fries - Mayo and red wine sauce - 3 kind of potatoes We had the chance to add to our feast a Boar shanks for 40$ extra and it was well worth it. Everything was excellent! The best of all for me what the duck confit and the ribs and for my husband it was the boar sausage and the meat pie. Basically, everything was wow! Drinks Great options for every type of drinker Non alcoholic drink to hard liquor and for sure beer! Don't forget to try the Blood of the dragon shot! Inn (Auberge) For some of you, it will remind you an Inn from world of warcraft. Decorations are on point, it really take you back in the time!! Inside wall made from wood and rocks, weapon on the wooden beams, candles on tables, wood tables, shields and armor hanging from the wall..... Also, you can enjoy the nice patio outside with fairy lights. Ambiance This is the place where you can have a blast! If you are thinking of a quiet romantic diner, this is not the place to go... Well not in the inn itself. You will have live musician, singer, some role playing speech and even more. Get ready to sing and clap your hands! Basically, you wont regret it! Have fun to look at the pictures as well! The picture of the guy holding his beer was our innkeeper Darius!!!!

This is a themed, medieval tavern where you can drink mead, eat boar, and be entertained by troubadours. It's very dark and hot inside and there's a lot of yelling, singing, toasting, and banging on tables. If that all sounds like a good time to you, then it's a lot of fun! I've been here twice, once during a weekday and once during the weekend, both for dinner. The weekend is way more fun because there are more people and more entertainment. There's no air conditioning so it's boiling hot in the summer (and nice and toasty in the winter). The troubadours are really engaging, especially if you're there for a special event. Prepare to interact with the performers, and maybe even sing and dance (the songs are mostly in French). We took our 3 year old there so it is kid friendly, though it is very loud and there's a dragon head on the wall so a small child might be a bit scared. They do have a kid's menu (picture attached), on the backside it has a picture to colour and they give crayons, but it's only in French. The drinks menu is also only in French. I've had the boar shank confit and sausage and it was good but a bit dry and not really worth the price ($50-60 for a plate with one shank, one sausage, and chips/fries - see picture). I also had the pork ribs and they were really good, but be aware that they're quite sweet. The cider sangria is great. Try the dragon's blood if you get the chance, it's intense but loads of fun. Overall I'd recommend this but be aware it's pricey and the food is not exceptional. You're paying for the experience and entertainment though!

Take note of the costs. I visited yesterday this place with four friends and my bill totaled $150 for a "Table d'hote", a pint of sangria, and a shot of red dragon. Here's a breakdown: Food: It was decent, leaning more towards comfort food and, in my view, overpriced for what was offered. The sangria wasn't to my liking, especially if you're accustomed to traditional sangria. Ambiance: The setting is reminiscent of a medieval tavern. The troubadour was exceptional, entertaining everyone. The atmosphere can get lively, making it suitable for those seeking a vibrant evening. If you prefer a quieter setting to chat and savor your meal, this might not be for you. Service: Our waiter was attentive and provided commendable service. Highlights: - For an energetic medieval-themed night, this is your spot. - **Caution**: The costs can add up. I made an error by asking the waiter for the "Table d'hote" and allowing him to select for me. The pricing wasn't as straightforward as I assumed. From what I recall, my expenses were: $60 (main dish), $15 (sangria pint), $20 (entertainment), $5 (shot), and $15 (extra on the main dish). Including taxes and a mandatory 15% tip (about $20), my total was over $150 – more than anticipated. Our evening was enjoyable until my bill came. It might be worth experiencing once, especially if you enjoy lively medieval settings. This wasn't exactly my cup of tea, however. A crucial tip: Review the menu and prices thoroughly before ordering. Only cash and debit cards are accepted, no credit cards.

Let me start off by saying this review is mostly about my recent experience with their « Caverne à sucre »  event. I will leave a more general comment at the end.

First, there was a single troubadour for both floors. Poor guy seemed exhausted from having to entertain such a large number of people all morning. He also happens to be the same troubadour I see every time I go there (no matter the day); have all the other troubadours disappeared? Anyhow, hats off to him for trying to help us pass the time as we waited almost two hours to receive our lukewarm food.

The food quantity and quality were also way lower than usual. At $40 per head, one could reasonably expect a large meal from a restaurant known for its “gargantuesque” options. Note that the meal is served on a single platter (I’ll come back to this later) and must be distributed by the clients, making it hard to know how much food is actually included in the price. It turned out that 2 people out of 10 at our table only got to eat a slice of the (small) omelette and one slice of ham. You heard that right; the two had to pay $40+tx each just for a few bites. Even if two people barely ate anything from the meal, the quantity was still lacking to the point of leaving the other 8 still hungry after it was over.

As for the food quality, it was very ordinary. The meal arriving lukewarm certainly didn’t help. You could have a much bigger and fancier meal for half the price at your typical breakfast restaurant. The worst offender is that there was no maple syrup at all (we even asked for it) and the only sugary part was a bite-sized dessert. Not a very “caverne à sucre” experience!

Finally, let me go back to the “single platter for the entire table” part. A single platter for 10 people during the peak of a worldwide pandemic wave; come on! Make it clear that everyone will share the same food BEFORE it is served or, ideally, before reserving… Even though everyone at the table was vaccinated, half of us ended up with COVID. A real cherry on top.

I will wrap up this review by saying that the evening food is still great, the team is fun and that, overall, the experience is enjoyable. However, they have recently raised their prices by 10-20% (including the entrance fee), and while raising prices isn’t a bad thing per se, they have reached a point where eating there is now definitely a luxury. Is it still worth it? If you’ve never been to the Auberge and/or the medieval experience is something new to you, then yes. If you only want to eat a hearty meal, you’ll get much more bang for your...

I can't say enough good about this place. I came here on a weekend trip to Montreal with my wife, and we had such an amazing time.

The food was incredible. We got the tasting platter with game pies & viking quenelle, the monsieur seguin poutine, and the lemon merengue pie and chocolate cake for dessert. The portions were LARGE, we took most of the poutine and the desserts back to the hotel. Everything was incredibly delicious-not a single unsatisfying bite to be had. And there were a dozen more dishes we wanted to try--everything that passed us looked absolutely delicious. And SO reasonably priced?! We absolutely never could have gotten as much food as we did for so little ANYWHERE decent in the US, especially with such incredible service and such a fun atmosphere. I was stunned when the bill came out.

The service was unmatched. The entire staff was energetic, whimsical, and fun, but our waitress, Clothilde, went completely above and beyond. She was so sweet and so accommodating, even of my poor hearing and very, VERY minimal understanding of French. The staff was very accommodating of English speakers and made it on theme, too! She made our experience so amazing, I was so impressed; it was hands down the best service and hospitality we've ever received. She even helped us find a taxi after our meal when we realized we couldn't get an Uber. Not just a great server, she's a great human being and I hope the absolute best for her. And the troubadours, Faust and Violin (I hope I'm spelling that right) were an absolute delight. They made such an effort to make a great experience for everyone in the place, it was really amazing to watch. I mentioned being Irish and Faust asked if I'd like an Irish song, then jumped into Rocky Road to Dublin like an absolute pro. It was so sweet, and I didn't expect it at all! They are incredibly talented musicians!! Genuinely mind blowingly skilled. This whole staff is just full of incredible, fun, delightful people.

This is THE place for ambience. The decoration and design is so Immersive, and it just....feels like everyone in there is having a great time. Make the time to come here, you will not regret it. We will absolutely be back, this was easily the highlight of our "second chance honeymoon". We'll be recommending this to anyone visiting Montreal. Absolutely fantastic experience, my face hurt from smiling by the time we got back to our hotel. 100 out of 10. I'm honestly sad to go home to Massachusetts, I wish we could be...
