Ben & Florentine — Restaurant in Montreal

If you want to be ignored and have your appetite spoiled, this is the place. There was no one at the reception, after waiting for 5 minutes hoping that one of the waitresses walking around would greet us, finally a lady with a glass asked how many of us, I told her 3 and she seated us on a table facing the entrance, btw it’s winter time in Montreal and it wasn't the only table available, I asked if we could sit somewhere else and the lady turned around and told me (without looking at me) that I needed to wait because all the other tables were not clean, I replied that no problem we can wait, then she walked away and started serving other customers, we waited another 5 minutes and didn't see anyone cleaning the table...after another few minutes another family came (apparently the reception was still no one) The mother of the family had lost her patience and walked around us and headed inside, I kindly reminded her that there was a waiting line and she replied that there was no one and we should grab our own seats and then they sit on the one of table of their choice. I saw one of the waitresses walk towards them, I thought she was going to ask them to wait in line but I was wrong, she started clearing their table. I told another waitress we were waiting in front of that family, this waitress told me the table was smaller and unless we could squeeze in otherwise we sould have to keep waiting. At this point, I don’t think this is the place for us. Would never consider...

I’ve been there a couple of times and this is the first time I was served in a horrible way by a waitress in a restaurant. My parents ordered their plate with sausages. Sadly, it had a funny taste to it (I’ve had sausages before from this restaurant, and I can confirm this time it tasted funny). I let the waitress know right away, and instead of taking the plate away to change the whole plate she gave us another small of sausages only, without even removing the whole entire time. We asked her to change for another kind of meat instead. After she comes back again, I had to tell her that the sausage was served on top of the potatoes and we won’t be eating those potatoes. So she brought us another side plate of potatoes, again, instead of replacing the plate… I’ve worked for years as a waitress at restaurants, and also the first time feeling the need to leave only 10% tips. This is unacceptable. My meal was actually really good, so it’s really sad that we were served like that..

I understand sometimes what happens in the kitchen is out of the waitresses control, but definitely could have find a better solution than that.

Sadly, I am not going back...

We've been here quite a few times now and had good experience, however the last two visits were ruined by a waitress.

We've ordered foods and were left without coffee/tea for a while, I had to ask her colleague for it Kids food had juice included, but she forgot and I had to ask it She only shown up twice at our table: once for taking order, last time for bringing the bill Errors and mistakes happen, I understand, however she never had smile on her face and always seems rushed and rude to serve, as it we are not welcome Lastly and the worst part, due to bad service and altitude she had, I decided to tip only 2.50$ (and that's still about 7%, we ate for 35$), yet when she saw me not selecting 15% on the terminal, she said "the 15% button is here sir", then she took the terminal away and press the 15% and returned the terminal to me, effectively forcing me to give 15% tips, is that even legal?

All in all, this good restaurant is being ruined by this waitress, I wonder where I can...
