So i just wanna share this experience in the hopes that no one else wastes their money like we did. We ordered take out from Mandarin in Lasalle and i can honestly say that this was the worst Chinese food experience ever. I started opening up all the containers and with one of the main dishes, I couldn't tell which one it was supposed to be. Everything else seemed to have been in order which means that this mystery container was supposed to be the chicken chow mein. Now knowing that chow mein is supposed to be a noodle, i couldn't possibly believe that this tub of bean sprouts was supposed to be the chicken chow mein. I called the restaurant and asked them how they prepared their chicken chow mein dish, and to no surprise i was told that they mix the noodles, chicken and veggies and put it in the wok. So i asked them then why is our chicken chow mein dish just a container of bean sprouts. So he asked me to wait while he went to check on it, and sure enough when he came back the story completely changed and now all of a sudden, bean sprouts is actually in fact how they prepare their chicken chow mein. We went through this for 5 minutes, of me trying to explain that we got just a tub of bean sprouts and him telling me to "hold on". Eventually i got fed up and hung up, called back 5 minutes later to speak with the manager. Now again the story has changed. I was told that because we ordered a combo this is how they prepare the dish, and if we wanted noodles then we should have ordered from the regular menu. I just hung up cause clearly their manager didn't care to try and correct this issue for a paying customer. I went on to eat the pineapple chicken, only to find that there was literally no chicken in my pineapple chicken! It was just a ball of fried dough. That was enough to get me to stop eating. We ended up going back to the restaurant to show them this abomination in person. When we got there, they pretty much started telling us that ya you're right chow mein is a noddle but this is how WE make it. I tried showing them my chickenless pineapple chicken as well, to which the response was.. well sometimes you may not get a piece with chicken in it. I have full respect for the host who kept his cool the whole time, but to the women that work there, they have a disgusting attitude towards their paying customers. We only went there to correct this issue, and the women working there thought it best to start yelling at their paying customers in their own establishment! Horrible, horrible, horrible customer service. They too were trying to tell us that two of their dishes were the exact same but with a different name, to which we responded then that they cant call this dish chicken chow mein if they're not actually gonna give you that dish.. anyway needless to say, if you want Chinese food, don't go to Mandarin in lasalle. You'll just get the cheapest thing they could find...

51of us joined a 3 day tour started from Toronto this was our lunch of the last day on the way back. I used to owned a small chinese restaurant at UK. From my first glance( picture I took on the day) two letters of the sign was missing ) I doubt if I am going to have a good meal. The sign of a shop tells the customers how you run your restaurant.
The restaurant was dark, the carpet was worn and really dirty. The cutlery was clean though.
I was very hungry and lots of food there. Please dont be surprised if I tell you what I had, some boil broccoli, two spoons of boil rice, fried noodles, piece of 'thinly' cut pork chop, two spring rolls, two deep fried chicken wings. Coffee was very very mild I doubt if they put enough instant coffee in the tank. Coke was good guessed my last time having coke must be long time ago. I must forgot the taste. We still have 5 hours on the road, I decided to have some other thing to fill my stomach. I saw next table had a banana, what a good choice will be. There was none on the fruit stand. A waitress proudly said there was a lot of other fruit. I checked around not even 10 of us had one. I asked my tour guide see if she can get me two to share with my wife. What a joke she told me, the restaurant manager said the delivery didn't arrived yet. Hahađđđ Why our tour guide brought us here ? Must be a very...
Read moreFirst of all, I foolishly assumed that the name Mandarin meant this place was affiliated with the Mandarin chain in Toronto. They aren't. The buffet was a small selection of really poor food. The price of $24+ (after tax) is astronomical for what is offered at the buffet. They advertise 'seafood' (crabs legs) and there is no type of seafood offered (mussels and shrimp, but these are items found at any buffet). We were there on a Sunday and the restaurant was not at all busy yet our plates were not being cleared away and we had to ask for water, more than once. When I paid the bill with my credit card the (waiter, manager, not sure his position, it was only when it came time to pay the bill that he began hovering around the table, before that we couldn't find a waiter) he pointed out to me the 15% tip and I told him I was not including it. He actually followed me and my family all the way out the restaurant into the parking lot asking for the tip. And then he comes running to say he forgot to include the apple juice in the bill in a tone that sounded like I was the one who did not pay for the drink. Seriously, I have never had such an experience in a restaurant and needless to say, we won't be back. The fact that this restaurant is situated in such a remote area should have been my first clue that they have nothing to do with the Mandarin in Ontario. False...
