Café Van Houtte — Restaurant in Montreal

No one was working when I came at 8:45 in the morning, I mean how dangerous is it for someone to come into the store and there is no staff. I waited for over five minutes with other customers calling out for someone. Is there no way for the staff to know if there is someone upstairs. I left and came back and saw a girl working. I went in to tell her that I called out multiple times and no one came. Her excuse was she was in the kitchen and that she was only gone 5m. It was more than 5m. Makes no sense to me that someone would be in the kitchen in the basement at 8:45. What if there were people in the morning who needed their coffee? I missed my bus because of this. And she just told me, well I’m here now. What kind of response is that? What kind of customer service is that? Regardless the place was low stocked in food. Only biscottis and cookies to sell. The young lady's service this morning was terrible. I ordered a raspberry scone, a veggie pâté wrap, and a café frappé. The only thing she got right was the coffee. She forgot my scone (which would've been breakfast) and replaced my expensive veggie wrap with an inferior egg concoction, which she then proceeded to heat up - at 7:30 in the morning. Her lack of attention to detail and basic service skills are abhorrent, to say the least.

Unfortunately, I was in a rush to get to my own job, so I hadn't had the time to double-check to see if she had done her job adequately. Do to her incompetence, I for one will be spending my money elsewhere.... Next time, hopefully she'll listen to the customer and use common sense rather than going about making a her ideal breakfast.

The place look ok but the cashier I think she was in her 20th something probably Indian or Srilankan she didn’t seem to be happy to work there she was wearing headphones taking my order while talking to someone on phone and than when I went to counter to ask her for let for the bathroom she was disappeared for atleast 10 minutes which is not good for a business and for the restaurant owner security also when she came back after 10 minutes I asked keh for bathroom she said yea u can have it but make sure you don’t dirty it and also make sure you turn off light before leaving I was polite enough if don’t say anything.
