My experiences at this place were hideous and disrespectful. I was ordering with my wife sushi take - away for Shabbat evening and due to allergy I specifically stated twice NOT to have Avocado. When I came back to my hotel , I opened the order and saw that all of my Sushi rolls were with Avocado, although stating twice that I can't have it. I called the manager of the restaurant and told him that I have an Avocado at my food and asked if he could sent a replacement. Since it was before closing at Friday he couldn't get it and sound stressed and uncomfortable, I told him that I could call 10 minutes later and so I did. After 10 minutes, he said that he is sorry but the food is locked and there is nothing he can do. This made me really stuck , I was suppose to spend the next 25 hours with only vegetables and bread that I bought at the last moment before Shabbat, and due to my religion I couldn't get a proper meal, since this restaurant serves kosher food, he knew how bad it is for me and promise me a compensation, telling me and my wife to come along at Sunday and he will take care of us. I've consulted with my wife and thought that a dinner plus a refund would be a fair deal, and this is what I told him when we finally came at Sunday. His response was as following , and I quote : "You can choose anything from the menu" - A list of dishes with prices varies between 24 and 42 CAD . I told him that I am expecting a refund for the sushi I couldn't eat- which is exactly 36 CAD, and he said , and I quote again : "You can have only this dish, I see numbers and that is what it is worth for me". I told him that a dinner should be a fair compensation and I wouldn't think of ordering to priciest steak and drink all the bar dry, but still enjoy a dinner. My wife suggested that both of us will take a course and he was quick to fix her and told her , and once again I quote : "My apology is your compensation, I only see number and you can either take sushi at the same price again or any of the suggested one course per two person menu" . I told him that it is not acceptable, and that I staying hungry at Shabbat because of his careless mistake - he could check my reservation , and nor him or the cook cared too much to do so. After we saw it is going no where, we asked for a refund only for my sushi , his response was that "due to the laws of Montreal he can't refund". Really? he drag us here , at the middle of the vacation, after I was hungry at the weekend , not standing on his word about getting compensation and not willing to refund us?

We had no choice and didn't want to leave our money there, so my wife ordered a course worth 28CAD and a desert worth 10CAD.

I have never experienced such a rude, arrogant , non thoughtful and dishonest service.

You have been warned,...

If the owner is reading this you NEED A NEW HOSTESS. I have never met a more unapproachable, no smile, rude and couldn’t care less attitude hostess. I reserved a table for 5 for 7:45. Arriving at 7:45 there was no table for 5 available. Apparently the hostess had given the table for 5 I reserved to a party of 4 who added a fifth person at the last minute. Only 2 of that young party had arrived and were seated at that time but she did not ask them to move and wait. Instead she had 3 of us standing at the door ( 2 are in our 60’s) waiting. She offered us a round table whose party had paid and were sipping tea. I told her sipping tea could still be awhile but she didn’t care. In the meantime 2 other couples, one with no reservation were immediately seated to a table of 4. After 15 minutes we were offered a table for 4 in thé back ( VIP section I think) with an extra chair added. She could have offered us this option at 7:45 instead of having us wait as this option was acceptable. The party at the round table sipping tea left at 8:45. Although I frequent Chops rarely each time this hostess has no smile on her face and couldn’t care less about the customer. She did not offer anything like free deserts or drinks for making us wait while standing and never came over to see if everything was OK. The Steaks were good but the chicken salad chicken was very dry and basically paid for salad. On thé upside the waiters were attentive and pleasant. I will not be going to chops in the...

Ordered some type of asian beef plater, it cost 39$, my brother ordered something similar for 39$ as well. It was our second time, the last time being 3 years prior. We vowed never to go again, well here we are, again. I had about 9 tiny pieces of beef in a mixture of vegetables. My brother finished his plate in about 4 minutes, mine was not very tasty and left it to go. I never complain but this was rediculous. 39$ gets you a 7$ plate. My dad purchased a 63$ steak, it was good, nothing special.

Its basically a more expensive version of a less tastier ernie's and ellie's, and that's saying lots.

Also, there was just us in the restaurant, service was BEYOND horrible, had to beg for the bill and they force an 18% tip. Thats why their servers are not motivated, smoking, fooling around behind the counters, talking about girls they slept with in earshot. I guess if service was good and the atmosphere was fun, the 2x or 3x overpriced low end asian cuisine wouldn't hurt so bad.

Too bad... was hoping for...

If you’re looking for a kosher dining experience that encompasses a bit of everything, Chops on Queen Mary is worth a visit. This restaurant has carved out a niche in the Montreal dining scene with its extensive menu: full Chinese cuisine, a robust steak selection, and even an array of sushi. Not to mention, their homemade desserts add a sweet touch to the dining experience. One of Chops’ standout features is its impressive wine list, arguably the best kosher selection in Montreal. The inclusion of a couple of non-mevushal options is an unusual and exciting find that adds a layer of sophistication for wine enthusiasts. However, while the variety is commendable, I did find the overall pricing a bit steep, especially considering the quality of certain dishes. The burger, for example, was underwhelming—nothing memorable, which is disappointing given the expectations set by the menu’s range and the restaurant’s ambiance.

I ordered Chops for my mother's birthday dinner. My credit card was debited right away and I received a text message stating that my order would be ready at 12pm. When I got to chops, it was closed. I called 3 times before someone finally answered. The owner said that the restaurant was closed and that it was "a glitch" in the website. He was not apologetic and took no responsibility. He did not even bother help finding a solution. He said that Chops was no longer open on Friday (contrary to what it said on Google). After I told him it was unacceptable, the owner finally said "oh, maybe I should change it now" (he has since changed the hours). The fact that they accepted the order, debited the money and were actually closed was only made worse by the attitude of the owner. I would highly suggest not to count on this restaurant for any event as you may be left with nothing.

New Yorker in for the New Year here. Chops was an outstanding experience from beginning to end. My brother and I were going in late after a show so we called prior to place our order to go and Andrea at the front desk happily invited us to sit and enjoy. By the time we got there our apps were already placed on our table ( tuna tartar and salmon tacos) both 10/10. Our waiter Amil was very professional and accommodating. We also ordered 3 of the special roles- probably some of the best sushi I’ve ever had including famous non kosher restaurants in NYC. The lamb chops were fresh, cooked to perfection and well seasoned. We stayed for dessert and tea- all around perfection.
