Enoteca Monza Pizzeria Moderna — Restaurant in Montreal

Don’t recommend for travellers.

My family and I went to have dinner at this restaurant. The food was ok/good. The four cheese pizza tasted so bad we hardly ate it. Everything else was enjoyable.

We were a party of 5 adults with two small kids and are visiting from out of the province. The waiter brought our bill and we noticed there was a charge that almost seemed to be 15%. We assumed it was the TIP included and paid our bills leaving a little more than the balance.

I want to mention that the server brought our bills before we were even served our desert, meaning we paid before we finished eating. That’s the first rude action. She charged my family member for a drink she FORGOT to bring and a drink they didn’t order.

After fixing her error, before even bringing the desert, the server brings BACK the bill and puts it on the table sliding it at us saying “the tip is not included, that’s the tax. You only left six dollars” we said “oh?” Partly because it surprised us and partly because I didn’t understand why she was saying it like that, with such haste. She then proceeded to say “ if you don’t pay more I’ll have to pay out of my pocket to everyone here” and gave us back our cash. She then repeated “you only left 6$ and the minimum is 15%”

We were so shocked because I’ve never had a server demand a tip like that. A tip is a gratuity and courtesy and although she was initially very nice she behaved so rudely and entitled for a tip. It both upset and shocked our entire group, it took us a second to even think to figure out what the gratuity should be. Nevertheless after eating our desert we tipped the waiter as we would have anyhow (the restaurant takes money out of her pocket, what kind of place does that?).

Style over susbstance - we walked in and decided to order to go on Saturday March 22, 2025 in the evening. The restaurant is beautiful, modern, perfect for a date or special occasion, however the food is really sub par. We ordered a margherita pizza and tagliarini carbonara - we chose the largest family size portions for both of these meals and it costs us over 86$ - the pasta alone was 44$ which was already pricey. I expected something delicious and unique to treat myself but the pasta was totally lacking in flavor. It felt like it was just tossed in fat/oil. On the menu this dish is listed as being cooked in egg yolk and cream, however I did not taste the cream or egg mixture at all. There was NO cream, I believe this dish was not done right. The pasta was just oily and flavorless - other than salt, there was absolutely no remarkable flavor, cheese or creamy texture. The type of pasta looked like ramen noodles. I was extremely disappointed at having paid so much for a dish that looked and tasted like buttered noodles. I expected a much larger portion as well for this "family" sized dish but it was honestly just enough for 2 people.

The pizza was extremely thin, like paper, it was cooked well but lacking sauce and again just lacking flavor.

We have ordered from this location years ago and had a bad experience, we wanted to give Monza a second chance since they upgraded their menu since that time but it was a total let down. I feel really ripped off. I don't understand how this went so wrong and most other dishes or photos looked good.

Do not recommend, way too expensive...

Great service . Friendly service!! Right atmosphere. Amazing management that cares about there clients. Give back to community, buy sponsoring front line workers during pandemic. Clean place,. Friendly sincere staff, trying to make most pleasant service. Highly recommend this monza to everyone. And if forsome reasons your time wasn't pleasant, just check out other reveiws as I did . And see the owners go out of there way to reach out to those people. And find out what exactly transpired. And go out of way to make sure doesn't happen again and almost guaranteed a most enjoyable meal and service in future. And if something not right . They want to here your feed back , And improve going forward. I will be back many more times In future. We lucky to have them.Also RECOMEND BENI HANA .
