I recently had the pleasure of visiting Falafel St. Jacques located at 345 St Jacques in Lachine, and I must say, it was an unforgettable culinary experience. From the moment I stepped inside, I was greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere that instantly made me feel at home.
The menu at Falafel St. Jacques offers an impressive array of Middle Eastern delights, but it was their falafel that stole the show. The falafel here is simply out of this world! Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, each bite was bursting with a harmonious blend of herbs and spices. The falafel balls were perfectly cooked and had a delightful balance of flavors that left me craving for more.
One of the highlights of my visit was the selection of fresh and vibrant toppings and sauces available to accompany the falafel. From tangy tahini to zesty garlic sauce, each condiment added its own unique twist to the already outstanding falafel. The pita bread used was fluffy and pillowy, providing the perfect vehicle to hold all the deliciousness together.
The staff at Falafel St. Jacques deserves a special mention for their exceptional hospitality and attentiveness. They were knowledgeable about the menu and were more than willing to make recommendations based on individual preferences. The service was prompt, and I truly felt like a valued guest throughout my dining experience.
In addition to their remarkable falafel, Falafel St. Jacques also offers an enticing selection of other Middle Eastern dishes. Their hummus was smooth and creamy, the tabbouleh was refreshingly tangy, and the shawarma was succulent and bursting with flavor. It's evident that the chefs at this establishment take great pride in preparing each dish to perfection.
The cleanliness and hygiene standards at Falafel St. Jacques were also commendable. The dining area was spotless, and I could see that proper care was taken to maintain a clean and inviting environment.
Overall, my visit to Falafel St. Jacques was an absolute delight. The combination of incredible flavors, friendly service, and inviting ambiance left a lasting impression on me. If you're a fan of Middle Eastern cuisine or simply looking for an exceptional dining experience, I wholeheartedly recommend visiting Falafel St. Jacques. It's a hidden gem in Lachine that deserves all the...
Read moreI don't eat out often because I have an allergy to wheat but I came here on a recommendation from someone who is celiac who said this place was fantastic- she orders gluten free and said when you order gf everything is cleaned kept separate.
To keep it simple I ordered 2 gluten free falafel wraps-1 for me and 1 for my husband (who has no dietary issues)and explained I was allergic to wheat to the guy making it, but in the end I couldn't chance eating it. If I could do it again I would have also made it very clear to the guy I ordered from (I didn't, which was my bad- it was explained to me that the default practice is to clean and keep gf separate, so I figured I could just speak to the person making it before it was started and let them know it was an allergy...which I did and was met with very very obvious frustration from the cook). Even though he knew I had an allergy before starting, my meal was contaminated in several ways. For a start he laid about a quarter of both gluten-free wraps over the regular wheat wraps. When I pointed it out he kept saying I should have told him I'm celiac (I'm not celiac, I'm allergic and showed him my epi pen... he repeated several times through making the order that I should have told him I'm celiac...) he continued to be rude about it and switched utensils (but not wraps, which had already been contaminated)...which he dipped into the hummus that's put on (and touches) the regular wheat wraps with. He then put the first wrap bare on the grill... so I asked if it's the same grill as the wheat wraps (yes).
The guy who took the order was nice and suggested he use a paper on the grill to protect it, so that's where the second wrap went... until it was unwrapped and laid beside touching the other one and a thing to press it was laid on top. Altogether way too contaminated for me to eat safely, so I didn't eat anything I ordered. My husband had my wrap and his own and said it was very tasty.
My husband says 3/5 stars for the food but I would say if you have a serious allergy make it abundantly clear to absolutely everyone in the shop and then watch how it's prepared before you decide whether you'll eat it or not. I personally would not return, but my husband (who doesn't have an allergy and is not celiac) said he might have the food again if he were...
