395 St.Jacques, Lachine, hidden near the highway, you can watch the cars going up the ramp, so close, but not noisey. Of course they have GREAT music playing! Real plates and table cloths, Nice people with smiles all around. About 15 tables inside and people getting takeouts every 10 minutes, expect it to be fresh. We had the ox tail, jerk chicken, and curry chicken. Wow, so nice! Like the music, milder than Jamacian Chilly House (too loud music, spicy food) This little jewel was rather tastier, softer sounds, gentle helpful people. Each plate had a nicely plated rice & beans, slice of grilled pepper and zuccini, lovely slices of plantine, tiny cup of sauce, and 2 cinnamon festivals (like a denser tim bit) Each plate was done well, and each meat tasted so different and tender. Oh, and started with a green salad with a sweet balsamic dressing, what a tasty way to start. Averaged $14 per person. Good place with some parking and you can watch them prepare your food, (Just dont lean on the glass, please) wifi, takeout, Mastercard are available. We...
Read moreHi 👋... It was by luck I found this place as my regular goto Caribbean restaurant was closed for the holidays. I would to thank the staff that took care of me. The real meat of the review is.. I am looking for home cooking that taste like family made it. This is pretty dam close and I am please to confirm the OX TAIL is good. Rice and peas and plantains are okay but not every resto will make it the same but at least the main course is good. The veggie roti and beef panties taste equally good.
I will not name other places that charge the same amount of $$ and try to hide the lack of seasoning and just kill it with hot pepper sauce. This place go easy on pepper spicy and give you seasoning.
The carnival balls that was in the meal was good also, stayed a little long in the deep fryer but I can still taste it.
I will return for the dumpling soup!!! Forgot to ask for black cake.
Good 👍 👍
Please note that Google did not have any of the items I bought on their beta list. But ox tail is a...
Read moreI don’t usually leave reviews but this restaurant needed one. I visited this Caribbean restaurant with some excitement, but it quickly turned into a regrettable experience. The moment I walked in, I was struck by how outdated and neglected the decor looked. The flies were the worst part; they seemed to have free rein over the place.
Speaking of waiting, it took over 20 minutes to get my plate of jerk chicken, despite the fact that the food was clearly pre-made and just needed to be reheated.
The service was slow and indifferent, with staff who seemed disinterested and inattentive.
In summary, this place is a letdown on every front. The food is ok at most, the service is poor, and the environment is unappealing. Save yourself the disappointment and find somewhere else to satisfy your Caribbean food cravings. I suggest Onestop...
