Great service from one bartender alone - because of her, the night was amazing and she's the one that get all 4 stars because of her energy and mixology knowledge. The manager on the floor, which we understand he's doing his job, is not great at communicating in a friendly manner. We had reservations, but didn't realize you HAD to eat something, so he moved the 4 of us from our table to the bar, which was totally fine, but his delivery of words weren't ideal, considering my experience in the food & hospitality industry, he could have articulated himself a lot better, especially his tone, we aren't children, you could have spoken to us like adults. It doesn't say that on your website, so maybe you guys need to update that since we were told you need a reservation to just get in there prior to bottle service. But at the bar is where all the good times were - then bottle service started and the place got packed and then we were told we couldn't hang out at the bar anymore because we weren't spending enough money, even after the two bottles of Moet was purchased. My husband and I left right after that interaction. The tone and his demeanour needs some serious work.

This is a mixed feeling review... Let's start with the food! It was a delight and perfect in every way! Texture flavour and quantity. This would be a 5 star review for the food. Where it's going downhill for this place is the constant pressure to spend money. We went there with a large group before the hours where it turned into a nightclub. From the start the management pressured us into spending money. We reserved 2 tables for the night club part which was linked with an obligation to buy an absurd amount of alcohol to stay there. The more the night was passing by, the harder the pressure was. The door man pushed us to stay in our boot, staff was rude pushing people to get everywhere. All that being said the atmosphere was still nice. Beautiful people between 20 to 35 on average. It's a nice place if you're looking to spend a lot of money on overpriced booze and be treated like garbage if you don't ;)

The staff are very UNPROFESSIONAL and I’ll explain why based on my experience:

I recently went to Flyjin with my boyfriend to dine and have drinks/cocktails. This was our first time trying out this brasserie. When we approached hostess, she explained to us that there are no tables available to us due to reservations. Apparently, it’s wise that you book a reservation in advance as this place is usually busy which we completely understand. She asked if we wanted to sit at bar – We didn’t decline. We were sitting at the bar for about 5-10 minutes until the hostess approached my boyfriend and asked him if he didn’t mind standing as this stool was “reserved” for the party sitting beside us. She took away the stool from him, carried on and spoke to a man out loud at the bar. NOTE: The man she was speaking to appeared to be the manager or owner. Since they were standing so close to us, we over heard everything they said while they were pointing at us like children: “These Two Aren’t Part Of The Group.” So…..The bar stools were also reserved? Why did the hostess FAIL to tell us before we sat down? And why did these individuals make a scene in front of their customers to make them feel uncomfortable?! We were so disgusted on how they handled this matter so we left and took our business elsewhere in Old Montreal.

Upon reading the Google reviews, it appears management at Flyjin doesn’t value customer service as they don’t treat customers well in person or simply replying to individuals who has a bad experience.

I will never step into this...

I went this weekend with a couple of friends. We were excited to try something new. I have never been more disgusted with a place in my whole life. I never write reviews, but i am so upset that i have no choice. We were disrespected on 3 different occasions. First of all, the place is so hard to find, we were walking around in circles for about 10 min before we found it in a creepy ally. once we arrived to the doors we were greeted from a male with black hair and a long coat. We were the only ones there, after he did not speak to us, my friend simply asked , " can we go in?" he answered " WAIT , WHAT DONT YOU UNDERSTAND, wait for the hostess then you can go in, do you understand now? " what a horrible way to be greeted at a place were i will be SPENDING MY MONEY. then to make matters worse, the coat check woman , soooo rude to us. i was so shocked at this service i immediately wanted to leave . We go in for a drink and we start smelling the most foul smell. we decided this place was not our scene, so we decided to leave. as we were getting out coats, THE SAME MAN proceeds to tell " Are you guys leaving or staying? like can you get out of the way, i need to pass?? he couldn't just have said " excuse me?" we would have gladly moved" how dare you speak to customers in this way? this ruined all of our nights. this is so unacceptable. I will make sure to tell EVERYONE i know not to waste they're time. i will never be going back. The staff should get off they're high horse, and learn how to treat people. I wish I can...

Context: we came for dinner and stayed for the club.

The excellent: Service is fantastic. Top notch. This seems consistent across the board with all servers and ours was excellent as well as the other staff.

The good: Food is great. It's pricey, so know that coming in. It's definitely one of those places that will leave you hungry after ~$150 per person. The cod was the best I've had and I'm not a cod fan, but this cod, wow. Beef great. Dumplings were interesting. All prepared excellently. Very small portions.

Drinks were hit and miss. Espresso martini (with tequila) was amazing. Some others were not - whisky sour was weird, spicy tequila/fruity cocktail all right. Your mileage may very.

The iffy: Decor is... odd for this type of place. Sure, it's trendy. There's a lot of plywood involved and it leaves a musty musk in the entire place, and doubly bad if you go to the washrooms. Also plywood paneling. Seems like it was set up to get rebooted or torn out. Or maybe the building has water issues? Rest of the decor is as expected at the price point.

Club: it's a club. It gets pretty packed and not really much space for dancing so keep that in mind.

Would I go back or recommend? Probably not. Your mileage may vary. From a food/drink standpoint, there's other places I would try before circling back here since there was more "all right" than "wow" and at this price point everything could be "wow". It may be the club transformation that gets this place into a...
