A new pizza joint where the old j'aime la frite used to be. It's a bit out of the way, but easy street parking and a short walk from LaSalle metro. Really nice decor, it's dark but welcoming. The epoxy bar is beautiful. Menu isn't too extensive but everything looked interesting. We were a group so we got a few apps and pizzas, and everything I tasted was excellent. The gnocchi poutine was really nice, the basil really brought the dish together. For the pizzas, the dough was the perfect balance of crisp and chewy, the tomato sauce was tasty, the toppings generous and of high quality. I tried the meaty pizza - can't remember how they call them, the Hawaiian and the mushroom/truffle, all of them were great. Pizza size is big, we had leftovers to bring home - tasted great the next day. You could tell that they just opened and are still working through some minor kinks, for example the poutine was a bit too cold, and our pizzas weren't served at the same time - there was a good 10-15 minute wait between the fist person served from the last - but the staff was friendly and apologetic, and we weren't in a hurry, so no big deal. Good selection of cocktails, but wine and beer choices were a bit limited. Our rosso was pretty good and went well with our pizzas. Overall we enjoyed our meal here and...

Didnt feel like pizza, but went anyway because they had other options on the menu…
Ordered meatballs, cheese sticks and a cesar salad. The only good thing was the meatball (even tho it was odd they served em ON TOP of marinara, and not COVERED in sauce).
The mozza sticks were ok, but out of the 3, one had zero cheese in it. Must’ve stayed in the fryer and the cook didnt bother, so I got a deep fried stick without the mozza… didnt eat it and nobody seemed to care.
My cesar salad was blend, I only had one bite. The bacon was undercooked (almost raw at some bits), there was no cheese in it (except on the side of the plate as decoration), no black pepper, no lemon, just a dressing that had no flavor on iceberg.
Very disappointing (but I sas so hungry I took it to go and added some cheese, a bit of lemon, salt & pepper AT HOME and it was ok then…)
I mean the place has potential, but its very disappointing. The person in the kitchen should be trained properly, I dont think the plates should be...
Read moreI’m an investor, and it’s super rare to actually eat at a restaurant that you’d want to own a piece of the pie… La Pidz, is definitely one of those gems! It’s just opened, so I PREDICT within a year you will be waiting a while to get in… here is why:
pizzas are so very tasty, and I’ve travelled extensively and am super impressed. We all doubled down and ordered another round 🍕 cocktails were excellent, an impressive mescal drink called “Messy Gal” was my choice- twice staff was friendly; Johnny gave us some solid recommendations and excellent service atmosphere is really cool, fun but still classy! The lighting is great and you can actually read your menu and see your friend. Music was solid too. Just the right ambience.
All in all, a solid 10 out of 10. 🏆💪🏽
If I did own the place, I’d simply add two locally made craft beer on tap… yep, that would make it an 11/10....
