I simply had the worst experience of my life at this restaurant and this is also the first time for me writing a review (bad or good ) on a restaurant. When I received my plate, my heart just sank inside me : I was so disappointed, outraged, angry that such a plate could be placed in front of a customer. I remained silent because we were celebrating a birthday but inside me, I was so angry. Luckily, my neighbor on my left, reacted right away to the plate with a sound of disgust when she saw my plate and vocalized what I did not dare to say. I called the waitress and she was like : is the meat too cooked? And I said, it is not about that. I said that meat looks it was cooked 2 or 3 days ago and I sent the meat back to the kitchen. This meat looked like left overs you will throw at dogs. I did not eat a piece of it. I cut the meat to look inside and when you looked at the fibers of the meat, you could tell, this was not right. For me, the meat was just not cooked on the same day and that would be the most acceptable explanation. Because if that meat was cooked on the same day, then that is even worst. My explanation about this restaurant that they surely are able to put some good food out there : other plates (one burger and salmon tartars) at my table look good but they are able to screw things bad sometimes with no consistency and poor execution such as cooking some meat properly and not checking plates sent to customers. Remember : my neighbor reacted right away as well when she saw the plate so it was not just me! How can a restaurant send a plate like that? They really need to review their process!! Another piece of meat was brought to me and it was acceptable but I ate my meal without meat, since I had to wait. I still tipped the waitress because it was not her fault and paid for my order. Only one positive note : the sweet potatoes puree was good. Salad and dressing : just average. Overall for me, this was just a bad experience, especially for the most expensive order at the table. To the owner of the restaurant : I am not interested with a refund of my order as this will not do it : this level of poor execution is just not acceptable. The lesson you need to learn : check the plates you are...

I've been going to Labarake since it opened, probably around 2012, when it was under different management and kitchen staff. We loved it for its wonderfully consistent and tasty market cuisine. We recently came back this fall after it was closed for renovations. The ambiance was familiar, the service was friendly, and the price tag had increased slightly. Sadly, the cuisine was unrecognizable and disappointing. The new Labarake is not even in the same league as it was. I got food that did not deserve the price tag; I ordered a piece of salmon that was well-cooked, tender and bland, served with a vegetable side that was in a pool of grease. When I pointed this out, the server and the manager were open to the comments and came to offer a discount. Unfortunately, it's enough to deter me from returning. The current management did not do its due diligence to see what people had come to expect from Labarake, and imho clearly hoped to charge for inferior food. Very sad.

Went there with my boyfriend around 6 pm on a Saturday night, we said that we were there for some drinks and a few appetizers before going to a show so we would be gone before 7. No problem ,said the hostess she sat us at a nice table. Our waiter came up and we ordered two glasses of wine and 3 appetizers , he asked us if we would be ordering more , we replied that no , but we would be leaving before 7 PM for a show, he said that they do not usually do that and that we were taking up "space" (note, the resto was half empty ). He left in a huff came back promptly with our appetizers and glasses of wine. He then proceeded to reexplain quite rudely that , usually they do not do this and that the table would nit be " payante"...We ate and left at around 6:50. Our bill was around 75$ ,the food was good. But his attitude ruined it... It was ashamed because he made feel quite cheap and uncomfortable. Just to add, the restaurant was half empty when we left around 7. So , unfortunately we will not go back...tell me cher propritaire of labarake , trouve vous ça acceptable de traiter des...

Food and ambiance was okay. We ordered the oyster special at $1 along with a steak and caesar salad to share. The white chairs are outdated and the material is falling apart. It was very hot inside, I was surprised they didn't have AC on. I was wearing a dress that day and bits of white pieces got stuff on the back of my legs due to the heat and crumbling chair. The service was great despite a few hiccups. Another example, forgetting to serve us a steak knife. I had to cut it with a butter knife for the first few bites. But once we asked for one, everything went back to smooth sailing. The terrace is definitely a perk for those summer days but my verdict is that it's worth it for the oysters, make sure to wear pants (for the ladies) and don't expect too much.

We love this place and go all the time, But the service is inconsistent , today is Wednesday May 29th 8.30pm , we called 4 times and no answer so we thought maybe they were closed but did a drive by anyways: We turned up and they were open, as one of our fav oyster spots we were so happy but a little confused why the phone wasn’t answered. For fun we tested the phone line , it was on mute and we could see it flashing. They’re probably understaffed but as a business owner myself , I know this would be the very last resort to being understaffed, so i hope they know that’s the case and this wasn’t a rogue agent hurting the business they work for . Happy to elaborate to owner or manager if they need , ive been here at least 20 times
