Ribs steaks tastes ok on average, come with spaghetti and salads as side dishes. Enough for share:) As well warm oyster just amazing. Our server Louis is patience and supportive. But overall not feel very welcoming at very beginning at the restaurant. Overall whole experience was not that great. Don’t feel welcoming and the way hostess talk was makes me uncomfortable. As well first time we received our ribs comes cold, but server Louis was helpful and we got another new steak, appreciate that:) -no problem with Louis, appreciate with the efforts however at beginning steak comes with some tomatoes and grilled veggies such as horicots, was totally disappeared after we got our new steak. And we ask two times to get grilled veggies back. If your dishes comes with that you should gave us as it supposed to be like.(I kept spaghetti and salad so I didn’t mean those two side dishes only for the vegetable and tomatoes) My appointment was made at 5:30, I arrived on time even earlier. As e-mail said I had table for 2h30mins, if I understand right I can have my table until 8pm. I ask for the bill to be printed at 7:20 I did checked time:) and I got some personal issue with bank so I stay 15mins longer wait issue fix, at 7:36 hostess lady was suddenly come ask us rudely to pay the bill and we have to leave because she got customer coming at 8. I explain to her I got issue now will need to stay a bit to wait, she push us to have a time to pay bill. I just want to say even though I didn’t had wine or dessert I still bring your guys revenue, I am still your customer tonight until I leave. Better to train your employe how to communicate more respectful. As long as I don’t want leave within 2h30mins, it’s not friendly to push people leave and pay bill. Make me feel that I will escape. I came with your reputation and want trust your team professional cooking skills. As well operation as a team, sadly I was disappointed with today whole experience. Won’t be back anymore, first time is last time:) If you finish read my note I appreciate your...
Read moreThis restaurant catered our Christmas party this year on December 15th. The waiters and the gentleman at the oyster bar were all amazing, friendly and courteous. Food was great. However, the people serving at the bar were extremely rude and disrespectful. This guy serving at the bar was extremely rude to me when I asked him to top off my champagne flute to the top (because there was a big crowd and I did not want to return to the bar). He refused several times until I asked him why was he being so obstinate about this? He went on and on to say the the less-than-half-full flute was meant to be that way and that ”it WAS full”. I had to insist and tell him I was also a bartender, that he was being incredibly rude and stubborn and that that was no way to serve someone. He finally gave in and topped off my glass to 2/3 how it should be in the first place. How disgraceful to have to fight with a bartender at your Xmas party over a simple request. The second bartender, a brunette girl, when I went over towards the end of the cocktail party to ask for a glass of wine, I asked her what wine she was serving, Sauvignon blanc? only to get a rude response of “this is our white wine, it’s the same wine we’ve been serving all night!” I asked her again, which grape variety is it? She repeated the same thing and handed me the bottle so I could read “Alsace”, she seemed quite young so I will assume she didn’t understand what my question was. But any answer would have been a suitable answer: (name of the bottle, country) instead of the attitude I got. These 2 were there to ruin our party, i honestly do not understand how people at the bar who are supposed to be the most friendly, could be so disgraceful to the guests....
Read moreThis is one of the few restaurants I rave about (and still continue to rave about) to this day, months after dining with them.
I took my boyfriend to H&B for his birthday one evening in August 2023. We picked the tasting menu with the wine pairing and I am blown away by such a positive experience that we had.
The sommelier assigned to our table was very educated and well-travelled. He was able to share stories about how he had come to find the wine, his relations with the vineyards and owners. He gave great descriptions relating to the different wine palettes, and why they pair nicely with each dish.
The other servers were very attentive to our needs. They cleaned our table spills after each dish and were mindful enough to bring extra bread (to scoop up the gravys and creams) and refill our water glasses without even asking.
The dishes was the best mix of being experimental/interesting (meshing of flavours I would not have thought to pair together), well-cooked, aesthetically pleasing and well-proportioned. I don't even know what else to add other than my partner and I were very silent when eating because that was how delicious it was, and we wanted to savour each moment.
Finally, the decor and atmosphere gives off Japanese Zen/Scandinavian vibes. The restaurant has floor-to-ceiling glass windows which lets in lots of light and brightens the whole place. The many wood textures give a sense of calm, while the neutral and warm colors give a sense of elegance. The restaurant is located by the old train tracks, surrounded by old brick and metal structures. Very beautiful.
This is definitely a place to take someone special, or to impress folks. While it can be expensive, I believe it is...
