This is my neighbourhood. So, I know that this is the only bona fide cocktail lounge on St. Joseph Boulevard. The decor can be described as eclectic with Haitian touches. The decor can be described as charmingly eclectic, with some Haitian art influences. It's a congenial place to have a cocktail and look out over the water. I was instantly attracted to the martinis on the drink menu. The person who served me also was the one who made my martinis. He mentioned that he made them in the New York style because of his experience in that city. I was not disappointed. So much so that I could not stop at only one martini! So, I recommend the apple and lychee martinis. I did not have anything substantial to eat, so I do not know about the quality of the food there. Despite that, the cocktail lounge is a very welcome addition to the neighbourhood. When my family comes to visit, I now have a congenial place to take them for some cocktails.

Walking past this little gem I decided to ask to use the washroom as it was urgent. The owner Ralph was standing outside and did not hesitate to let me in. I decided to try their caramel mousse and let me tell you... I could eat atleast 3 of those things back to back lol. I am a foodie and a picky one, I'm also a stickler for customer service and the treatment was A1. So good I returned the next day. Thanks Ralph, for the great experience. 2 thumbs up! Makaya, see you soon 😊

Makaya was the perfect place to go after a long day! The kindness we received at Makaya was beyond appreciated. Not only were the staff so kind, they were super attentive! From recommending the best dishes and drinks to having patience to explain the ingredients that go into the dishes! I recommend Makaya for the tasty dishes, the kind service AND what a beautiful terrace with gorgeous flowers by the water! You heard it here! Go see for yourself! 🌟

Ma visite au Bistro Makaya fut plus qu'un simple dîner, ce fut une immersion dans l'essence même d'Haïti, rappelant la splendeur du Pic de Makaya, cette montagne emblématique située en Haïti et point culminant du massif de la Hotte à 2 347 mètres d'altitude. Dès l'accueil, le propriétaire a su créer une atmosphère chaleureuse et accueillante qui nous a transportés. En cuisine, le chef a véritablement capturé l'esprit du territoire haïtien, nous offrant des plats aux saveurs majestueuses qui sont un hommage à la diversité et à la richesse de la gastronomie locale. Chaque bouchée était comme une ascension gustative au sommet du Pic de Makaya, révélant des horizons de saveurs inexplorés. L'ambiance était magnifiée par la sélection musicale d'un DJ talentueux, qui, à travers des rythmes haïtiens, a ajouté une dimension vibrante et profondément authentique à notre soirée. Le Bistro Makaya n'est pas seulement un lieu de restauration; c'est une célébration de la culture, de l'histoire et du patrimoine haïtien, offrant une expérience culinaire qui est aussi riche et variée que le paysage du Pic de Makaya lui-même. Was passing by and ended up coming for a quick bite and a drink. Needless to say 3 drinks, a crepe and chocolate cake later I’ve found a new place to enjoy a nice afternoon. Thank you Ralph for showing us some great drinks and chocolate! Really refreshing place that is unique and tasty!
