A deeply disappointing and stressful experience
Tonight around 9:00 PM, I visited this McDonald’s. Because today is the provincial festival , most restaurants were closed and this location was one of the few options open, so there were many customers.
I only ordered one vanilla cone, but what happened was extremely disappointing.
On the counter screen, the left side showed “in progress” orders, and the right side showed “ready” orders. My number, 2140, appeared on the left. I waited near the counter, expecting it to be quick.
However, after a short while, my number disappeared from the screen, without ever showing up on the “ready” side. I thought it was done, so I asked a male staff member, but he said he didn’t see my order. I was shocked. I had been waiting at the counter the whole time, and now I had no idea what happened to my order.
I explained clearly that I only ordered a cone, but for a long time, he kept saying my order was not there. Finally, he found it—but it still took a very long time to prepare. I had originally planned to catch a bus, but because of the delay, I missed it.
I asked him: “Can you still serve ice cream?” He went to check, but didn’t answer me first. Instead, he responded to someone standing beside me. They were speaking French, while I was speaking English. I felt completely ignored and disrespected.
People around me were also visibly anxious and frustrated, because no one knew when their orders were ready. Customers had to keep asking. The system was unclear, and the communication from staff was poor.
Eventually, the staff told me the ice cream machine was broken—but no one had informed me of this earlier. I had to keep pushing just to get an answer. I asked if I could get a refund, and a female staff member with an Asian appearance finally took care of it. She processed the refund for both my order and another one, and she was efficient. I appreciated her help.
But overall, I was extremely upset. In over thirty minutes, no one proactively told me what was going on. There were only three staff members, yet dozens of customers. That’s completely unreasonable staffing for a busy holiday night.
Because of this mess, I ended up missing two buses. I ran to catch the second one, but it still drove away, and at that moment, I cried on the street. I felt helpless and humiliated.
All this was over just one ice cream cone.
I’m not complaining because of the food—I’m complaining because I was completely neglected, and because this location showed no respect for the customer’s time or experience. I sincerely hope no one else has to go...
Read moreThis is the worst McDonald I've ever been to. Avoid at all costs!
First time I went there one morning around 6:30 it was slow at the drive-thru and overall a bad service. However, I thought they were having a bad day and just went on.
Today, it was ridiculous! I've waited 40 minutes to get my morning burrito and a coffee through the drive-thru!
The burrito was not even hot! Nor warm, even colder than room temperature! The cheese was not melted and there wasn't even half of what they usually contain. In addition, they forgot to put the salsa in my bag!
No way I was going around waiting again so I stand in front of the window 5 minutes for them to come and see me. They saw me, but just seem to decide to ignore me. If I had been not nice or mad for the waiting, "It would make sense, even if inadequate for workers" for them to take revenge on me, but I was trying to be as nice as possible and repeated myself, since french was obviously not their native tongue.
The wait included 30 minutes freezing in front of the speaker box, car windows open. They could at least tell you it'll take more than 10 minutes, so you don't have to stand there freezing.
The goal was to eat the burrito while driving to work. I ended up obviously late and had to put my breakfast in the microwave. Horrible experience!
Oh, and they forgot to give me the bill!
Somebody do something! I'll call the company later today to complain. I called this specific McDo, but their landline does the old "co acted to the internet" interference. I have not heard...
