I recently visited Mosaic with a group of 10 colleagues, and while the presentation of the food was visually appealing (as you can see in the photos), the overall experience was underwhelming.
Despite booking a week in advance, the restaurant seemed completely unprepared. We were the only table there for the two hours we spent dining, and yet the service was far below expectations. The waitress showed no enthusiasm or effort in making our visit enjoyable. With no other tables to serve, it felt like a missed opportunity to create a positive experience for us.
Service was disorganized, with dishes arriving at different times, leaving us to eat separately instead of as a group. I personally didn’t enjoy my chicken sandwich, which lacked flavor and didn’t meet my expectations. However, some appetizers were enjoyable, such as the salad and certain dips, though others fell short in quality. A few of my colleagues had positive feedback about their mains, so there might be potential in other dishes I didn’t try.
The dessert experience was disappointing. The waitress initially recommended two desserts, only to return later and inform us they hadn’t “arrived yet.” This strongly suggests that desserts aren’t made in-house. The alternatives we ordered weren’t fresh and felt like an afterthought, which was a letdown.
That being said, I’m open to trying Mosaic again because some of the appetizers looked great, and I didn’t have the chance to try everything. The setting and presentation of the food are promising, but the restaurant really needs to work on their service, preparation, and consistency to deliver a...
Read moreThis restaurant is clearly investing in a booster review scheme. Upon scrutinizing the ratings breakdown, the conspicuous gap between the 5-star ratings and other ratings reveals a manipulative tactic, which explains our lackluster experience. The food, while not the worst, is far from exceptional, hence overvalued. You can have a better quality for the same price elsewhere.
Moreover, the level of unprofessionalism and incompetence exhibited by the staff is unacceptable. Our order for six persons' "extra" formula, as advertised on the website, was marred by the absence of a platter. When we brought this to their attention, we received conflicting excuses from different waiters, alluding to its removal from the menu one or two months prior. This lack of communication reflects their nonchalant attitude and employment of bait-and-switch tactics.
The so-called "manager's" disinterest in taking responsibility was evident when asked about his role in managing the floor. His nonverbal response of raising his eyebrows in denial and nodding in agreement to our accusation was utterly unprofessional. Is this the standard of service one should expect from a purported 5-star establishment?
Our experience at this restaurant was disappointing, to say the least. Definitely not coming back, and I am compelled to share my negative experience...
Read moreThe restaurant is beautiful, spacious and well lit. The atmosphere is great, and the music playing on the TVs is at a reasonable volume. There is shisha but it's well aerated and I didn't have any issues with the smoke despite having sensitive lungs to this sort of thing.
The food is even more amazing: loved the garlic labneh and mouhamara, the sujuk sausages were very savory, and I've never had a fresher, crispier, more delicious salad than the fattouch. Wonderful mixed plate, with tender chicken, filet mignon and kefta. The desert was transformative: the halawet el jeben felt like a a flavorful cloud, with a superb texture (in between mascarpone and mochi).
The service was great! He made sure he got our receipt split right, and we even got the table a delicious ben naren dessert to split because he heard it was her birthday.
Just a fantastic experience, and I will be cooking back to share it again...
