MR PATTY — Restaurant in Montreal

I have been here twice, only walked away with food once though. The first time I went here was around the 31st of August 2021. After seeing a 4.6* average review, I decided to drive from my work to Mr. Patty for lunch. I was unfamiliar with the menu, and with the sun shining in and reflecting against the plexy glass, I was having a hard time seeing the menus on the back wall. When the woman came out from the back, I very politely and cheerfully said "hello, how are you!?", to which the woman almost seemed annoyed by the greeting, and said "hi, what would you like.''' I could see written the menu, Jerk chicken, and asked if I could have a lb. of it. She immediately got rather annoyed, and said "that is only for the weekend, Friday and Saturday!". It was, as someone else has descried, a little awkward, so I apologized for the mistake, said it was my first time there, and preceded to try to see the rest of the menu. After about 20 seconds, she again became annoyed, presumably for having to wait, and said very condescendingly " Here, let's do this.. this menu is for the weekend, ok...and this menu you can order from" while swirling her right hand in front of each posted menu" .. I responded saying " yep.. I was reading the menu on the right..." Feeling a little pressured, I ordered two chicken patties, which she pulled out immediately, and then added that I would also like to have a chicken roti. As soon as I ordered the roti, again came the attitude. She got angry with me because I should have ordered the roti first, as it's more difficult than a patty. I was a little shocked as I can honestly say I have never been given sh*t for not ordering items in a specific order. As she was walking to the back, she clearly wasn't happy with my reaction, or lack thereof, so she repeated again I should have ordered the roti first, as it's more difficult than a patty, adding "understand?" and stood there glaring at me with an angry fake smile until I apologized again.. and said ok, I understand.

When I returned to my office, and my coworkers asked about Mr. Patty after having finished my lunch, I joked, and said I almost wish the food was terrible, because now I am going have to go back to be abused some more by the rude angry woman, as it was absolutely delicious.

Today, I decided I was ready for some more attitude and delicious food, so I returned. I walked in, and after waiting for a few moments I was "greeted" by the same woman. Once again, I very politely and cheerfully said "Hi, how are you!?". As was the case as last time, she was full of attitude, and could barely even muster up a " hi, good and you".. Remembering the lesson on how to order "correctly" from my first time there, I started with the roti, which she immediately responded " I have no food for you, you can have patties". I said "thank you, it's ok", and left.

The patties I had a couple weeks back were good, the roti was delicious; the way I was treated and spoken to both times was terrible;...

Based on the quality of the food, Mr. Pattie deserves 5+ stars. Their service needs improvement. Lines are sometimes long but I can live with that. The quality of the food is worth the wait. The main issue is special orders. They don't seem to be tracked in a very efficient manner.

I noticed at Christmas that people who had placed special orders were having problems. At that time, my order was ready.

A special order must be placed for extra spicy patties and cocktail patties. I called yesterday and ordered 12 extra spicy regular sized patties and 6 extra spicy cocktail patties. My friend was going to pick them up first thing Saturday morning so I provided her name.

My friend called first thing this morning and indicated that a major snow storm is forecasted for Friday night so she won't know until Saturday if she will make it in. I called the store and asked if it would be possible to change and arrange to pick up the order today. I was told the order would be ready in the next hour.

It was a long wait for the bus and a long trip on a very rainy day. After that it was a walk. When I got to the store, the lady who works at the counter said that my order had been picked up already. I let her know this was not possible. Turns out someone else had ordered a dozen extra spicy regular sized patties and a dozen extra spicy cocktail patties and she had given her my order. Instead of apologizing, her attitude was there was nothing that could be done about it now. She was very unresponsive. Actually walked away when I was speaking with her.

I asked to speak with the owner. She pointed to a table. He was sitting and relaxing with some customers. I expressed my concerns calmly. He was very lackadaisical. I pointed out that my mother and I have been customers for years and that his attitude was disappointing. I asked to speak with the person who had taken my order and he said he had no way of knowing that.

I sat and had a pattie and Ting to calm down. I attempted to speak to him again. He kept walking away. He said "What do you expect me to do about it?" I said you could at least apologize and speak with your staff to make sure the same thing doesn't happen again. After all, I did give my name when the order was placed. What is the point of taking the name if you don't check that when the order is picked up." I try to avoid conflict but it deteriorated from there. Had he been apologetic and accepted my feedback, there would have been no reason to write this review.

Unless there is an improvement in their ordering system, I would suggest finding another supplier for special orders. They are very disorganized and...

I am giving a 4 star only because on several occasions I have ordered and there is always something missing. You have the best beef patties and food amazing. However there seem to be issues whenever I place orders sometimes. I never order less than 2 or 3 dozen extra spicey beef and cocobread as well, but on several occasions when it was pick up it's missing the bread or something even though I called and place my order early this morning and got it confirmed.😭😭 I ordered 2 dozen extra spicy beef patties, 1 dozen mini patties ,1 large soup and 6 Coco bread this morning at 7:30 am (Friday 23) The gentleman who took the order confirm the order. When order was picked up we were told no Coco bread available. This happen on several occasions I am not happy at all . Before this I order 3 dozen spicy beef I got all chicken and called and spoke with some one about it and now this again. I don't like giving bad reviews because you have amazing food but something has to be done in order to assured that orders are respectively kept...
